126 Eklipze3k's Latest Toy

Introduction

Bought myself a new toy over the weekend. My phone doesn't really do it justice so will get some better pictures soon.

It's a 1983 FIAT 126 652cc Aircooled, with just shy of 31k on the clock. Not a patch of rust to be seen anywhere and the engine is beautiful. Only things needing looked at are the brakes and the choke, but she starts drives and stops which are the 3 most important things in my book (y)

It's provisionally named SR-71 for now. Drove it back from Strichen yesterday (about 1.5hrs) and couldn't stop smiling the full way, was getting looks from everyone!

Looks great ..and by the looks of the pics in great nick as well..saw an old 500 yesterday on the motorway..my eyes came out on stalks as we past it..guy had a big smile on his face as well..:)

Small fiats FTW..:slayer:

Cheers for the positive responses everyone, aye it's awesome fun to drive - was lucky to hit 65 on the way home with it but it feels like it's going faster than it actually is, and the noise is brilliant :D Steering is very responsive too, only real issue is the brakes being a bit weak ... might upgrade to discs on the front

A bit odd getting used to a 4-spd box though, I gave my bro a quick shot of of it and shouted at him no less than 4 times in less than 1/2 mile "Not to put it into 1st until it's stopped!!" :shakehead:

I hope it's not gone 'fut' at any time in it's life (barring the number plate ofc :p)

Looking forward to many more miles and many more smiles :)

nice car bud,i learned my son to drive in one of those at about 10 years old (and yes it was on private land).(y)

Thanks guys. As for plans, I was bidding for this on ebay.de:

But got outbid by 1EUR with mere seconds to go and couldn't add a new bid quick enough :(

However, one of the guys on CLUB126UK has given me the e-mail address of a chap in Poland who has sent them over in the past, so I could still have one :D
Other than that, disk brakes on the front are a serious consideration, and a bloody good detailing session is required at some point too :p

Eklipze3k if any trouble with polish guys,i know a few harder guys in uk that could talk on the phone to them to make sure the part comes to you.(y)

I always do my bids then add a pound or two ontop, because it seems most people bid up in £5s. So if i was to bid £50.00 id put £52.00.

When I placed the bid it was at 38.50EUR, and I put on a max bid of 53.00EUR so it only actually put the amount up to 39.50, then with seconds to go someone put in some other high bid and won it for 54.00EUR
