Cinquecento My Metallic Blue 1998 Cinquecento 1.1 Sporting.

Introduction

Hi well, i only joined the forum just a few day ago because i purchased this little 1998 cinqu 1.1 sporting as my little project just purely as a runaround:Djust so i do not have to drive my 2.0 16v Espace about,

I am not quite sure what iam going to be doing to it its far from being a perfict cinqu and with lots of tlc i hope in time it will be,

Well it has a years ticket on it and i have it garaged and hope to get stuck in about it in the next few weeks with a good check over mechanically then a clean top to bottom and then one of my first jobs after this is to replace the Rocker cover Gasket as it running a little at the front and then and only then will i start to sex it up a little:eek:

Cheers Scuderia

p.s Anyone now if this Blue Metallic paint colour has a name???

Yeah taking the dash out is a complete bitch. I have done it twice now and both times i broke something, its right up there with the fiddliest jobs.. fingers crossed there is no rattles from it.

Hi Blu,

It can rattle as much as i likes:devil: but iam 100% sure it will be fine, iam lucky as nothing broke when doing it so fingers crossed it will be ok,although iam sure in time they bolts might need re-tightened?and iam pleased to say there was not bolts nuts or even rubber washers left over:),

Cheers Scuderia

Car's looking great, i would be looking for a full cage though and not a half one if you are using it for track days.
It will be a lot safer if anything does happen and if its installed properly will give it a fair bit more structural rigidity which will keeps things tighter round the bends too.

Cheers SeiSporting

I was going to fit a half cage... but iam near sure i updated my thread a few weeks back??not sure:eek: but iam now going to be fitting a 6 point cage,

Re: My Metallic Blue 1998 Cinquecento 1.1 Sporting

Hi All,

Well i got the lifeline nozzle jets mounted on some alloy brackets i made during the week in the engine bay so that only leaves me to get the extra pipping i need to finish the job off and i should get that ordered this week,

I also got the bracket my friend had made so got it primed up and painted,i also got the holes drilled so it not just a case of bolting it in place to keep the fuel pump in place and help reduce vibrations,

Re: My Metallic Blue 1998 Cinquecento 1.1 Sporting

Have you polished the rocker cover a bit or is it really just that clean!!

Hi Blu,

I cleaned it up last Autumn bored one day:D i used a little wet and dry followed by a light polish just to clean it up as it was boggin (n)

I got the new bracket fitted today and iam pleased to say it fitted spot on doing its job well,

Re: My Metallic Blue 1998 Cinquecento 1.1 Sporting

Hi All,
Well a little update,

Iam still waiting on the parts i need to finish the lifeline system off in the engine bay as the company i bought my parts from are still waiting on a back order so until that comes in from Lifeline will they be able to send me the parts i need so more on that as and when i find out anymore info,

I was going to be fitting the 6 point cage this Month but i have decided not to until the summer as iam looking to use the car for a few meets and events this year so i thought i would fit the buckets seats, mounts and harnesses so at least i could then get the car mot'ed for this years summer events,

Cobra Monaco Pro Bucket Seats

OMP 3" 4 Point Road and Track Day Use Only Clip On Harnesses With Shoulder Pads

Alloy Ajustable Bucket Seat Mounts

Not sure when i will get them fitted but i will update the thread as i always do as and when i get some more work done on the car over the next few days if i get the time,

All the best Scuderia

Did Michael get lost:D

Just a little update while iam here,

Well i got the alloy mounts all bolted up today so they now match up with the side securing points on the bucket seats,
I also got the mounts bolted to the stock floor pan mounting points and got the drivers seat in place and bolted up so it could not have went and better if i had tried :),
So if i get time tomorrow i will get the Passenger seat in along with the harnesses tomorrow?all going well? as i have my everyday car to clean tomorrow as its minging!!

Hi Brooky,

 to be honest i have no idea:D is there any? looking at pics of Monaco's & Monaco Pro's or even the Monaco S they all seem to be the same to me although iam sure there will be some form of difference??

I looked at the suzuka's but they were well out my price range although i did have my eye on a set of omp??? sorry forget there name but they went for silly money,

As long as they hold me in place in the corners i will be happy as that track day i did last year i was thrown from drivers seat to passenger seat:D,

Hi Unleaded,Thanks:)

Iam not sure i have any pic's of the exhaust brackets but i will get a few for you tomorrow if iam down at the garage which i probely will be:rolleyes:,the exhaust is something that will be getting replaced after i have done the engine rebuild winter 2010-11 for a stainless but i do plane to keep the Ashley back box as i love it myself,

When i fitted the back box there was a bracket already welded to the front of it closest to the tips so i have bolted that as a solid joint to the floor pan and i think i used one of them uni bolt on hangers you can get hanging it to the cars exsiting hanger thats fitted beside the fuel tank but like i say it was just a temp fix but its never moved on me since,i will post up some pics tomorrow for you, hope that helps Scuderia

Re: My Metallic Blue 1998 Cinquecento 1.1 Sporting

Hi all,

So i bought a second hand half omp cage,i have to be honest its not what i was looking for but at the money i couldn't let it pass, seeing as iam only using the car for the odd track day and some events and meets it will fit its purpose well,

I have sanded it back to bare steel again and gave it a few coats of primer followed by 3 coats of red so all going well i will get it fitted next weekend,

Before

During

After

Re: My Metallic Blue 1998 Cinquecento 1.1 Sporting

Hi All,

Well its took me a little longer than i first thought to fit the half cage,

The time i got it prepped and painted and waited for it to dry which i had to do in the house :cat dry the cage that is :cat as it was far to cold in the garage that gave me time to get all the 3mm steel plate brackets mad up that a good friend made did for me then all i had to do was mig welded them into place followed by drilling them for the mounting bolts to bolt the cage down then i gave them a paint,

So now at long last its fitted,i also ordered some cage padding so it just got delivered as i was finishing off so all i have left to do is wrap some cable ties round it to keep the padding in place, seeing as iam using the car on the road for meets and events as well as few track days it will fit a my purpose well:)

Cage Padding

OMP Half Cage Fitted

Iam also pleased to say the parts turned up i needed to finish the lifeline system off in the engine bay so that is now all fitted and finished :cat

I just have a few more odd jobs now to do for its MOT test in April then there will be no more work done on it till the Autumn, over and out

All the best Scuderia

Hi Sam,

To be honest its not something you see everyday anymore?i certainly remember it when it was featured on Top Gear back in the early 90's:eek: i see plenty Seicento most days but with the scrappage option back in 08-09 there is far less now there there ever was:( iam just glad i got it when i did:),

Re: My Metallic Blue 1998 Cinquecento 1.1 Sporting

i have to admit, this is probably one of the best sorted cinqs i've ever seen.

great job mate, now its time to get picture-happy ;)

Hi NosherCento,

Thanks:),

Its no way perfect but Ive tried my best...that's all we can do eh!!:),i would like to have done the bodywork as there are few marks and very small dents in places but no rust so that's the main thing:D but its no way a winning show car that's for sure but iam pleased the way its taking shape...the next 12-15 Months should see it finished?? to a standard i will be happy with so bring it on i say:D,

Have i not used enough Pics:devil::eek:
