500 The loooooong wait is over

Introduction

Hi folks,

After fifteen weeks of sitting on the fence, endless e-mail and phone conversations, scrimping and saving, going to the Geneva Show, numerous
e-heart to heart conversations, and even glances at other 500's, I took delivery of my new baby at last this morning.

So far, I'm so so pleased and haven't stopped grinning.

Pictures attached for your information and enjoyment.
Congrats - looks great, damm I should have had the sliding sunroof!

Just picked mine up at teatime, got stuck in traffic coming home but a few opportunities to increase the revs, great fun.

Been out for a quick spin to show my other half, he loved it! One comment was that it was a bit noisier than expected, but that is a sporty note I think.

Had to read the manual about turning off the daylight running lights and there is a very slight smell from the brakes, but I hope that is just them bedding in.

Anyway, will post pics tomorrow, if it is sunny.:)

Yes: even I like it.
PS. I think it's the 1.2.

Suddenly liking black, and even the stripe. Must be the sunshine....will go and rest.

Smart isn't it!

Hey folks

Many thanks for your kind comments.

It took me three days of umming and ahhing on the configurator, refuelled by endless cups of tea and lots of biscuits, to reach my perfect specification and within a certain budget.

I had to choose between electric sunroof and leather, but the former won. My reasoning is that not many people are keen on leather especially in small cars, and I had a gut feeling that the sunroof would be the more popular option. I have specified ACC too and the standard fabric seats are good enough for me.

Thank you again for the encouraging comments, I was chuffed I hit the bullseye. (y)

Best

So glad you've finally got your bambino.

Really love the alloys, side stripe n chrome....great combo (y). And in black it looks awesome. Great choice & stunning outcome......even though you've had a hell of a wait ;).

Happy 500'ding

Yoshi :)

Exoticaholic - that is one beautiful 500. The sliding roof looks great. What engine have you gone for?

Sorry, overlooked your post.

It is 1.2 litres. I did want the diesel but the salesman did me a favour in 'underselling' the petrol engine after he asked me how many miles I did in a year. I was impressed with his conduct.

You are correct - the brake callipers are red on the 1.4. I am considering painting the callipers in the future.

I was chuffed with how it looked - I took a bit of a gamble.

looks really good, im not normally a fan of stripes but it actually works really well with your colour combo's - pleasantly surprised me :)

the whole thing - the chrome, the black, the white - you've got a seriously good looking 500 there....probably the best one ive seen so far, personally :)

Many thanks indeed, I was chuffed it all hit the bullseye. I didn't want chrome overload or too many clashing colours on the outside.

The white stripes are £100 a pair - Fiat must have a superb sense of humour!

Wow!!! I have to say that is the best looking 500 I've seen so far! (even better looking that mine, I have to say ;)) Sunroof is awesome and the stripe finished the look off nicely. Wheels are perfect too. Enjoy!:D

Morning, and thank you for your kind comments. Each one to their own, but good to see differently specced 500's from all walks of life and nationwide, rather than two or three basic trim levels. The world would be a duller place without all these 569,000 possible combinations!

Used the sunroof for the first time, it's brillant and well worth the £500. As I said in earlier post, had to decide between that or the leather. Sunroof won the day.

Pleased it all came within budget which is a bonus.

I'm really looking forward to Auto Italia on 1st June; first venue I'm taking my 500 to.
