nah, i can see the attraction of derv, and these days derv engines are (il admit it) technically superior to petrol engines.
and i would STILL not have one unless they could both rev to 7000 and sound good

Not only that its £1.30 a litre for dirty oil sludge fuel. This means I'd only save £290 a year driving a GP Sporting and thats if I could achieve 50mpg (impossible!).

You simply cannot beat the feeling of having torque. End of the day, if you buy a car where it's sound insulated properly (not in the GP's case) you wont even hear the tractor sound.
I actually like the way most modern turbo diesels sound, really grunty with that whistle kicking in.
easily beats the shagged up and weedy sounding 1.2 FIRE engine in my GP, which sounds no smoother than the one in my 1997 Punto 60 SX

once a diesel convert, always a diesel convert - my mate (never driven anything else) had a shot of my car and said it felt powerless - even though it is faster than his own car

Wrong I was a convert and now back to petrol again. I did the sums and dervs are just not cheaper anymore...
I do love the GPS though
. One of the most refined diesel cars there is regarding engine noise and smoothness.

I get really good mpg with my remap compared to standard. 60mpg on motorways!
You should hear the Mk2 JTD with a GSR kit on.

Very nice my friend. And Yes, I used to HATE Diesels but I have seriously come round to the idea of having a diesel again. I always drive with music on so I cant hear it anyway : ) And Mine would beat a t-jet anydayy, Standard or not : P
