Nothing really except the fuel economy is down, the diesel noise for 10secs while freezing cold and its not as fast as its supposed to be until its been driven for about 30mins. The variator on the twinspark engine advances the inlet timing above 4000rpm which is suppose to kick you into the back of your seat as it surges from 4000rpm to the rev limiter :). I can't wait to get it fixed .

Mine is exactly the same (no kick till warm, terrible fuel economy (24mpg!!!) but i don't have the diesel noise ???

I am hoping to get a 2001 2.0 tspark with sp2 at some point in the future (apparently the JTS's are poo)

Basically it sounds like a diesel engine at idle for about 10seconds until the oil circulates the system and lubricates the variator. Its a flawed design and it alloys oil to drain away from the variator while stood still and turned off.

Yeah the JTS's are more reliable but don't sound as good and are not as powerful.

24mpg is bad even with a knackered variator im getting 28mpg around town :).

28mpg is pretty standard for a 2.0 TS from what I remember with the old GTV regardless of variator. The only problem I found with a dodgy variator, yes I had it too, was the tractor sound on startup, now I've the real thing.

Isn't the JTS a shared GM engine while the TS is pre-GM? The TS was one of the things which made the Alfa unique but I think they've dropped the whole thing :(

From what i have heard, the JTS never produces as much BHP as it is supposed to. Also i have heard the JTS V6 is terrible.

Nice mate. My dad had an S reg 2.0 for a couple of weeks (it was a pool car at his old job) and it was hilarious from both the performance and electric niggles. Not as bad as the 147 he got afterwards which wound down its windows at random intervals. One of the nicest sounding four-bangers out there and will be rather rapid once serviced.

Enjoy! :)
