The As Yet Un-named Mazda 3

Introduction

Well it's here my Mazda 3 Takuya 1.6 petrol, 36k on the clock, 61 plate. It needs a name!

Woo discs all round, and 17s as Standard

Loving the interior, fronts nice with heated sports seats, plastics do get more japanese as you go further back

Cruise (finally) and built in phone

6 CD Changer, with bluetooth phone and streaming, also dual zone climate

Loving it so far, ride is firm but not harsh, doesn't feel as slow as I feared it might, though have to watch speed as its deceptive after the swift.
Well Martha gets her first trip to the menders on Wednesday, has a knocking noise in front suspension when turning left on poor surfaces. Sounds like a drop link or roll bar has some play, only really noticable as otherwise it's very quiet but under warranty so best get it done.

Edit: just heard it again, I'd be tempted to say it was in the cabin...doesn't really sound substantial enough to bw suspension sounds more like plastic on plastic.

When's the warranty up on it?

Next month for the original 3 year, but it's Mazda approved used as well so gets 12 months from purchase. Not overly concerned, it's just annoying in what is otherwise a faultless car with no rattles what so ever. If it was my swift I'd just turn the stereo up, but I'd like it spot on.

It's back they've checked it, all the suspension is in order no danger to anything, they've heard the noise but not located it so it's back in at the end of the month when they can give me a courtesy car and take their time eliminating possible causes.

Luckily the dealer I brought from and use for servicing is a family owned business, with a large service centre. Can not fault them they have been fantastic.

They even price matched the internet for my new tyres, gave me the part ex price I wanted for my GP.

The turbo ones are pretty damn quick!

The normal ones however....aren't, adequate would be the best word for it. Chassis is nice though getting over the novelty now and starting to pitch it into corners and a sticks very nicely indeed. Body roll is minimal the ride is a good balance between body control and comfort. So not much roll, but soft enough to take the edge off and poor surfaces don't shudder through the whole car like the swift did.

Also paid for my 1st tank of fuel today and got 40.7 mpg trip computer was reckoning 40.3 so pretty much spot on and not bad for mixed use and a fair bit of time stuck in traffic.

What Fiat did you have?

I'll ask the first question. Does anyone else drive the car? ;)

No.....

However this might explain things. God bless configurable multi function displays.

If it doesn't find a video of the latest civic type R advert the music on it is Android Porn by Kraddy. On another note the Mazda 3 forum swears that the bluetooth system on this car cannot display song titles...

Heard the exhaust note for the 1st time today, it's a weird sounding thing. Been driving round windows up climate control on since I got it just cos I can but went to the chippy tonight so came back all windows down.

Windows up it's all quiet and refined with the odd growl from under the bonnet if you wind it up, windows down it sounds very strange, deep with the sound of little to no back pressure (what is it with the Japanese and large bore exhausts on small petrol engines?) and gentle fluttering from the tail pipe on overrun that suggests if you were on it it'd be popping.

Don't even know why I'm surpised with this as standard..

Looks similar to my tail pipe, and mine sounds quite throaty for a diesel. You need to clean it up with a bit of Brasso
