New Mini Cooper

Introduction

Picking it up tomorrow, our new Mini Cooper D London Edition To replace our now dead HGT MULTIJET

2012, 4k miles on the clock used over the Summer by BMW peeps for the Olympics

Climate control with heated seats
17" wheels with run flat tyres
Full leather interior with Union Jack piping and red white and blue stitching
Cruise control Bluetooth phone control
DAB radio with 'visual boost' which means you can tweet and Facebook from the command control stalk in the dash, watch videos and play all content from specially designed iPod interface.
Sports mode (apparently does something to throttle and changes gear ratios)
Stop start 74mpg 99g/Km so free to tax and free of the congestion charge.
Seriously happy with this fantastic little car

The only Mod planned for it is the chrome grill mounted driving lights. Which apparently the dealership will be happy to fit for us at some point in the future
Swap you a 100k miles patched up mk2?

Errm noooo, :p I loved the hgt but reliability and fiat is still an issue so buying another fiat was unlikely, we tried the fiat 500 and citroen DS but neither really suited and the 500L is just ugly

it is a stunning little car with virtually all options selected, I think the only thing it's missing is sat nav, sadly from my point of view its the misses car but my punto dynamic is way over due replacement and I was rather impressed with the mini countryman so maybe another 6months and ill start looking.

We tend to swap cars a lot anyway depending on what we're using it for but I still love the simplicity of my little multijet and it still makes me smile so I'm reluctant to replace it at the moment, but the mini is epic fun and tiny luxury

If the sports mode is anything like my vauxhalls one, its like a second map and yeah you havent been fed a line by bmw/mini, you will definately notice a change in the throttle response and gear changes

It basically speeds everything up and if you have traction control it lets you haves a little bit of slack, it doesnt switch it off unless you turn it off its like the cars way of telling you you are in control a bit - there wont be an increase in BHP or anything like that though

It will ruin your mpg if you use it all the time and not recommended in the wet, i find it a bit of a gimmick feature to be honest, there's not many scenarios it can be utilised for me unless you are on a track

If traffic light grand prix is your thing then you may find it useful there or accelerating on a slip road maybe but I dont tend to use it very often

The manual says
"When you press this button you mini reacts in an even more sporty manner
-Engine responds more spontaneously to accelerator pedal movements
-Steering is more direct
-Cooper S and JCW engine sounds more sporty
-gears are shifted more quickly with Auto box "

I suspect it will be something not used very often

My mate had one of these , he put a set of coilovers on his , and it looks soo much better :)
good cars for day to day use
The car handled like a go kart the steering is unbelievable I wouldn't do anything to mess about with it

Hope you didn't pay anything like the screen price £16,745

I wonder if the 2012 branding will make it more desirable in years to come?

Looks a real belter (y)
I think we got a Grand or so off and my missus managed to extorte a shed load of extras including a Mini handbag

the 2012 logos can all be removed if you want to the roof graphic will be coming off but the others are all fine , plus this special edition comes with loads of extras which all cost a fortune if selected individually so i suspect it will help it keep its value

One of these special edition cars was used in the opening ceremony and it was a red one but no idea which one as there were no number plates on the car used, I can only assume it was mine lol

They also used a few in promotional events such as rein acting the Italian job around London and a choir of minis beeping horns, all special edition models

Nice car. The Lisa Simpson logo on the seat will raise a smile long after the games are forgotten. ;-)

Like many special editions its all part of the character of the car, we had the huge graphic removed from the roof because it was just a bit much but the seats and front wings carry the logo and suite the car well especially with the red and blue stitching which piping and Union Jack piping on the head rests.

Went on a charity run today with the east coast mini club and received loads of compliments (apparently the wheels are very desirable as they are a one off colour)

Last week we sent it back to the dealer to have all the media system software updated, as it wasn't all working properly with our iPhones.

Now all working and has two new driving game apps one monitors how efficient you drive and gives you points for careful breaking accelerating and gear changes, the other is called "Driving Excitement" which gives you points for smooth fast gear changes sporty breaking and cornering etc etc its quite good fun and gives further enhancements such as G-meter power and torque meters and awards badges (a bit like foresquare) here is a pic will try and post up a video at some point its all very cool

My brother-in-law drive his wife's Mini Cooper every evening after work. She couldn't get it out of it and it was handy that it was company fuel.:)
Nice looking MINi. Very high tech with all the gadgets. Best of luck with it.(y)
