RuSZ's other car...

Introduction

As many of you know, I'm back in a fiat (My Grande Here)

But I also have another car.. Me and my dad co-own this one and is used as the tow and work horse. I use it quite regularly for towing caravans and trailers, and for going on long motorway journeys, 1/2 Tank to get to Perth from Wakefield :Thumb:

A Vauxhall Signum 1.9 CDTi, we bought her 3 years ago for the grand total of £5k.

Its based loosely on the Vauxhall vectra, with the front half been the same, the rear is designed as a large hatchback. Quite similar in dimensions to the Fiat Bravo

The powertrain is also very similar to the Bravo, with the Fiat Deisels been present in the Signum, and this model boasts the Fiat 1.9 MJ 150T. :D the spec is the second highest with the SAAB 3.0 V6 topping the range

Cool at least it's got a Fiat lump so you're familiar with the DPF & EGR valve issues :nerner: :p. Although it's a 56 plate you may not have a DPF :).

Speaking of which ;)

The EGR stuck open.. Clogged up the entire system with carbon. Refused to pull our of junctions without stalling.. DPF was completely gone, so was sending the car into limp mode :bangshead:

So new EGR and DPF. And trying to get a blanking plate. (y) edit FIAT blanking plates don't fit (n)

Think theses a turbo boost leak. Hates cold starting and can hear hissing on turbo boost.

OUCH!

DPF is expensive isn't it? I'd just remove it. I'm getting a semi blanking plate for my EGR, don't want to block it completely just limit the damage lol.

Have you tried the DPF regen process? Should mention it in manual. basically revving the sucker while stationary. I know on a FIAT you can use FES and activate DPF regen cycle manually.

Yep £230 + fitting. All in was in the garage 3 days and cost £550 inc service ;)

Yeah we tried the regen process but the engine refused to either start or when it did was in limp mode. Once off the DPF was pretty much just a block of carbon.

We reckon the EGR was stuck open quite a few month and when all this car does is heavy loading and towing on motorways, all quite straining on the engine.
