Toyota GT86 :D

Introduction

Went with the other half to Toyota today because he was interested in the new GT86, anyway he ended up placing an order for one.
Now the wait begins, the salesmen haven't even seen one yet!!

Anyway have any opinions? Bad or good? (y)
I'm not sure about being a replacement
My OH hadn't heard about them until Thursday and then went today and ordered! Apparently there only assigning 300/400 to the UK for the first year and they've been taking orders since december. We're off to see one at the dealership next week but they can't tell us whether it'll be a showroom car or demonstrator! He's getting it in black after searching through the factory orders to see if we could get one (y)

Haha sounds fun...im a big fan of jap coupes...it best not replace the MR2 as the TRD import twin entry turbo was immense :D

Get some pics up ones you see it :)

I guess, in a way, it is a replacement for the MR2, in that its a Toyota RWD sports car. However, its so far away from the mk3 MR2 in terms of what it's supposed to be, I wouldnt really call it a replacement. MK3 MR2 was rear engined, RWD, convertible. This is a front engined RWD coupe. Maybe more of a RWD Celica if you really wanted to pin it to an older model.

It's more of a brand new, stand alone sporting coupe than any replacement.

I don't know a great deal about them and haven't seen one yet but it's great to see Toyota back in the "sports" car game again after years of tedious bull****.

Welcome back Toyota :slayer:

:yeahthat: it's something completely new so you can't really compare it to anything Toyota have previously made, the only comparison is subaru' new one ( but then comparison on that is limited because it's basically the same car!)

So he's picking it up on Monday or Tuesday.
Initially he was told 1st September so he was suprised when he got a call yesterday saying it is sat waiting at the docks for a transporter!! Will get some pics up when he gets it. :D

It arrived at the dealers this morning so hes off to have a look on the way back from work... picking it up on Monday... cant wait to see what it looks like!!
Doubt ill ever get to drive it though :( It is a lovely looking car though :D

The GT86 is a very nice car indeed.

It's a joint venture with Subaru. The GT86 and the Subaru BRZ are largely the same car.

The engine is a Subaru boxer using Toyota direct fuel injection. Non-turbo and 200bhp! It's a supremely fast car once you push it past the 5,000rpm mark.

Here's a pic of my Focus alongside the one I got a quick test drive in:

And that Subaru/Toyota engine:

If I had £26k lying around, I would have one in a heartbeat!

Yep, someone on his forum took the centre caps off the alloys and even they have Subaru printed on them, I think he went for the Toyota version because the bumpers are very slightly different and the lights both front and back are different, plus the added bonus of a 5 year warranty (y)
