My New (in a sense) V8!

Introduction

Hi guys!
I have recently bought myself a 1985 Rover SD1 Vitesse!
I bought it off a guy who intended to restore it but never had the time, so now its my turn! :D
I aim to make it my every day car when I turn 21 so I can cover it on Classic Car Insurance!
Its a Beaut! (y)
It was standing for 12 years so needs alot of TLC! I have taken out the fuel tank which was full of black gunge! I have stripped the majority of the interior out and have taken out the engine. Its so exciting!

Yes it will be an mamoth job but the motivation of the thought of driving it when it is done is amazing! :D
I have only ever seen 1 on the road and thats a gold 2.6 mk1 driven by an old boy so will be nice to be in a headturner and at my age! (y)

Welcome to the world of pourous cylinder heads and 3,000 mile oil changes, seriously Those rover V8s are an arse best make friends with your bank manager and RPI engineering rover V8 specialists Up the road from me

Anyway it's a cool project will be interesting to see how you get on once done get it on the books for a agency that supply cars for tv work ;) lots of demand for 70s / 80s cars as they've all rotten away to nothing

Love SD1s :yum:

Presumably quite easy to work on too? Spares availability is pretty good for mechanical and body parts as well, i expect it makes a great car for a relatively easy restoration project :chin:

I was going to try and fit a V8 in my MGB, but it's not as straightforward in earlier cars like mine, and the B series engine in it was tuned, just needed a rebuild so i've done that. Probably have the same power as a factory MGBV8, but much heavier on fuel and doesn't have V8 burble. :(

i love theese efi v8's there so simple!
is yours the model without lambda sensors? I'd imagine its also a vitesse! i have a tvr(rover) v8 engine in my tr8, a rover sd1 differential and austin princess front brakes!

Thanks for giving me hope, need to overhaul the entire engine soon....
Haha no Cats what so ever! :D
