BMW Z4 3.0 SE Roadster

Introduction

I decided to treat myself to a new car rather than trying to get the Marea MOT'd for another year.

as of this morning i'm the proud owner of a BMW Z4 3.0 SE Roadster, obviously this morning i had to have the roof down to try it out :D

it has M-Sport suspension and M-Sport seats which make it a very hard ride but its really nice to drive, i bought this car to be something nice to drive, be more reliable and cheaper to run which it does fit the bill looking at servicing etc.

28.5MPG average which is about 6 more than the Marea.

it certainly feels alot slower than the Marea and i dont doubt that if a straight line drag the Marea would walk away from it.

but i guess thats not the point, its nice, modern & reliable :)

i was only planning on a few subtle touches but it looks like one of the previous owners has already beat me to it. Clear side repeaters, clear 3rd brake light & a stubby ariel (y)

0-60 is 5.9 according to the book, and it probably would beat the marea on getting going due to it being RWD, from a 40 roll on i'm confident the marea would pull away like a train.

still, power isnt really an issue, as i said, its not why i bought it :)

Cool car, my mate had same model for about a 18months, his interior was not as nice as yours, it was just black leather. It replaced his Clio Scarab 172, to be fair he said it didn't feel that much faster than the Clio.

But he sold it about 3 months ago as the harsh ride just got to him to much since he moved to Leeds about 6months ago (he used to live in Shetland Isles can't imagine roads are better up there ???), so he replaced it with a E46 M3 SMG which rides way better surprisingly.

I fancied a Z3M until I heard someone refer to it as an aggressive poofs car, put me off, but then thats his sense of humour :)
 
Aaron - Jamie kept going on at me to get a Z3M instead, they seem more femenine though and just arnt as modern as i wanted, i dont doubt they are probably great to drive though.

the ride in mine is very firm but not crashy, no harsher than the Marea so i'm sure i can live with it.

Alex - yeah, its a little different :D

better to buy a convertible in the winter ;) prices are lower, although the Z4's have been gonig back up in value recently as we are coming out of the recession, i didnt want to miss the boat on getting one for good money. Summer will be here soon enough :)
