Renaultsport Clio

Introduction

Yep as the sun was sunshinng thought i'd give her a quick wash..

So far just got a K-tec de-cat stealth system with a ITG panel filter, and matched Inlets oh yeah and obviously the wheels (centre caps and hole filling things are drying)

Also got some Eibach Sportlines on their way and an RStuner (rempapper) waiting to be used

Needs some new brakes so will probably go for the Brembo HC and DS2500 with stainless hoses and a fluid change ready for Castle combe next month.

Next visual mods are the bullets and diamonds to match the wheels (possibly mirrors as well)

Oh this is the RR result from before the Inlets she will go back on RR after remap and a trackday next month.

Couldn't resist when, they first met and shared some electricity

Cheers
Only issue i've had was the exaust rsuted through on the centre section oh and the outside temp is playing up and that's 53k on the clock and 6k of that driven by me (think a few people know how I drive )

Bullets i'm thinking of just matching the lettering to the wheels

Now i'm sure i've seen other car with a set of those alloys on before :chin:

It's good to see it is not one with the silly stripes all over it! hows the fuel consumption on it? I guess it is like all petrol renaults and is low geared? my 206 is a lot thirstier than you would expect from a small car

Yeah my wheels are nicer and bigger though.. and not on a fiat  lol

Errmm MPG what's that  got it down to 19 :worship: with some spirited drving.. on the other hand had it up to 57mpg on a long run donw to my dad's on the M4 all the way

Looking good, and yes those wheels do look very similar to a certain Cinq turbo's wheels :)

Jamie has some Eibach springs coming, i know because I was asked canm I collect them from Northampton, then oh do you have spring compressors, think I know whats coming next.....

I would have no fear over reliability over Renulatsport products as all Renaultsport are made at Dieppe on there own production lines and are classed as own manufacturer, unlike Abarth products which are just made side by side normal Fiats.

As such reliability is known to be higher than normal Renault products, having run 2 R5GTT's and know folk with RS cars I would echo what EVO mag said about reliabilty and RS products, been near faultless with nothing other than routine items like exhausts that have short life, in fact way way better than some VAG products I have known people to own.

Well if your offering Aaron ;) :D

Si do it you wont regret it theirs even a low comp turbo conversion for around 2.5k as well now reliable 230bhp in a clio with ability to easily upgrade to nearly 300bhp

I feel the need to say 'schweet' :slayer:

Looking at the current market value of my GP I would probably be better off with a mint 172 Cup and some money left over for maintanence than an average condition 182FF and no money left over :chin:

Tbh I would go for the Full fat not the Cup.

Cup's aren't really going to be noticeably quicker on the road and lack ABS as well as being an insurance group higher.. although you do get nicers wheels and a bit lower I guess.. but I prefer my interior and air-con ;)

Loads to choose from and the prices have come down even since I bought mine..

Just to give you and idea I paid 3k for mine which was on 45k with full specialists service history and belts only just been done :)

They're definately a lot of bang for your buck and to be honest with you I would be happy with any of the ph2 RS Clios (not a fan of the ph1 front end)

I could happily live with the base spec interior, thinner glass and cut-down features of the Cup but call me a tart, the lack of ABS kind of scares me because I've become far to acustom to driver-aids

The 172 definately has the sleeper look going on, remove the badges and it takes a keen eye to spot the deeper front bumper grille and the shaping of the rear bumper.

Correct me if I'm wrong but they never offered the 172 as a 'full fat' with all the toys plus the Cup suspension/styling packs did they? Just the 172 or 172 Cup to choose from where as the 182 gets basic, full fat (with Cup packs) or 182 Cup (base interior and lack of toys).

I like my toys and creature comforts but lets be honest, the less toys you have, the less toys to break lol.

No your right about the Full fat just a habit from another froum (winds people up ;) )

I know what you mean about the ABS and aparently some insurers wont cover the cups for that reason

I think if I choose again i'd still go for a "full fat" :p 172 or maybe a nice cup packed 182 in racing blue :yum: but if I wanted one just to go fast would have to be a PH1 alloy bonnet and RS inlets as standard...

And yeah the sleeper look is good maybe some "billabong" stickers for the next mod

Ah right, obviously a newbie mistake  lol

Insurance wise, I've found quotes for me on a 172 Cup are coming in around £100 cheaper than a 182FF (not quoted on a 172FF yet). The Cup coming in at circa £600FC and the 182FF coming in at circa £700FC (both significantely cheaper than the EP3 Type R that was a potential replacement).

I think the model will be dependant on what the GP eventually sells for - I'm yet to put it up for sale because I'm not quite ready to accept just how much it's depreciated since I bought it last year.

As for the Billabong stickers, could try going for some 1.2 RN bullets :p

For me it would have to be a Racing Blue 182 Cup on 16" white Speedline Turinis and H&R coilovers

Spotted that one on PH the other day dude, looks very tidy :) Judging by the last pic it looks to be a CS member's car too so likely to be enthusiast owned.

Just trying to ready myself to take the plunge

Dont think you'll regret it if you did. I've had my 182FF a few months now and im still loving it. They feel like a proper car- heavy clutch, weighty steering, good brakes and (suprisingly, after hearing they are a bit weak) good gearbox. Obviously its a cheap car so dont expect too much refinement and quality, but there's enough. Also averages 35mpg- thats pottering to work and back, and having a good blast every now and then. Nothing to report about reliability, its been spot on.

Im liking the 172, wheels look smart. What size are they? Seems to be a bigger gap compared to standard.
