Tempra alloys on a Marea

Hi

I've got a Fiat Tempra 1.9TD estate (1994) which I've had for years.

Just about to replace it with a Marea 1.9 TD100 SX estate (1999).

My mate is buying the tempra to use as a workhorse and doesn't care about the looks etc.

So my question is can I swap the standard Tempra alloy wheels and tyres for the steel ones on the Marea?

I know the studs for the alloys will be longer but thats not a problem - I can sort that.

I've read about "wheel offset" but don't know what that is.

Anyone help me out?

Cheers

Re: Tempra alloys on a Marea

You should be ok with swaping the bolts from the tempra to the marea, but check the threads look the same and go in finger tight ok, alos check the profiles of the 2:

As if they are different then speedo will read incorrectly etc.

Theres a thread explaining ofset etc somewhere cant find it just now. Am not usre of the difference between the tempra and marea.

Re: Tempra alloys on a Marea

Should fit with no problem - center bore is identical, mounting holes too. The best is to take the bolts with the alloys, as they may need tapered contact surface, while steel ones have it flat. Tempra bolts will fit as both front disks and rear drums are if not the same than of the same thickness.

The size of standard wheels is 5.5J ET43 14"

Re: Tempra alloys on a Marea

I envisage no issues swapping the wheels. Use the tempra alloys bolts along with the wheels and it should be fine. Infact the suspension is almost the same on a Marea and Tempra. You won't find many differences apart from the method of attachment for the anti-roll bar.
