Three quick questions for you, if I may.
On a R reg Weekend 20V ELX:
1)Can anyone tell me where to find the non-return valve for the rear washer. I've tried tracing the pipe from the pump and it immediately disappears behind a cover and seems to end up running through all the interior panelling. The pipe starts off white and ends up black by the time it gets to the tailgate, so there must be a join somewhere!

2) I've had all four disks replaced and the front pads now squeal like crazy. I mentioned copper ease to the mechanic who fitted them and he said that it doesn't make any difference. He didn't have any other ideas, (apart from trying another set of pads). Is he right?

3) On gentle braking when moving slowly, I now sometimes get a sort of double clunk. Is this the front suspension drop links?

Hi Andy and welcome to the forum. :D

Can't help you on the first one:(

Pad squeal could just be dirt, give it a couple of hundred miles to burn off. If it's still there after that the pads could be contaminated. This could either be due to poor pads, poor storage or the discs not been cleaned before the pads were fitted. I always give mine a wash with meths and a rub with 1200 wet n dry before I fit them.

Not much help on the third one either. Could be drop links/bushes, you need to lift the car and give them a shake.

Good luck and let us know how you get on. Some of the other members may be able to help with your queries.:D

On the second one, yeap could be some kind of dirt ingress, or first runing adjustment which is normal... When changing the pads, ask the mechanic to remove all kind of burs at the the sharp corner of the pads before mounting.

On the third one u may have a kind of moviment( auto adjustment) of the front calipers couse they are floating some how. Try to feel if this can be noticed when you are in a reverse way.(sorry about my english)

If this is the case, just try to change not only the pads but also the disks and the floating bolts that hold the two parts of the calipers.

Good luck

1. The rear washer inline valve will be found behind the bulkhead felt on the nearside.

2. You could try chamferred Pads (sorry bout spelling) or cleaning the pad guides properly. Fitted hundreds of these and no squeel yet! Are they genuine Pads?

3. Anti-roll bar drop links are very common on these cars, as well as the anti-roll bar itself moving which causes knocking(hard to belive just how far it can move!)
