help i have a fiat marea 1.9 105 jtd sx and am having probs getting the blowers to demist the windscreen any ideas please (wife driving me mad moaning)

yes it does but thats no good either it takes about 10 mins to clear the bottom half of the screen it does clear all of it then when you turn the heaters down because we all passing out with the heat it mists back up

If your carpets are dry, the first thing to look is the cabin (polen) filter. If it is clogged, you just can't demist the windows (it happened to me). You will determine it it is clogged like this:

Set the fan to 3 and to blow directly towards you and put your hand on the grill where the air is coming out. Now set to recirculate, wait a sec and then see if it makes any difference in amount of air. If you have more air on recirculate, then your cabin (polen) filter is clogged and needs replacing. It is really easy to replace, 1min. Hope this helps. Now it wan't mist as bad (even if you don't turn ac on). And ac does not turn on below +5C anyway.

I'd second what fbarcode said. My Marea wouldn't demist when I got it - took the pollen filter out, looked like it had never been changed (90,000 miles) the amount of crap that was in it. Just chuck it away till you can get a replacement, it's not critical.

Open bonnet.

Locate pollen filter cover.

Use screwdriver (philips #2) to remove the highlighted screws.

Locate pollen filter securing band (highlighted green). Unclip from front of pollen filter holder.

Remove pollen filter. Replacing is reverse of removal. Make sure rain protection is put over the top of the pollen filter cover (use a screwdriver or finger to tease the strip over the top of the cover.

Remember to ensure the bonnet safety catch is moving freely and springs back when pushed. Oil the pivots if its stiff.

What I meant was: I don't have this black rubber band (highlighted green by hellcat).
:)

Yes, I do, actually I've changed it about a month ago, and there was no black rubber band. Only thing which is holding a filter are 2 hatches on the side.
