im a lady who doesnt know much about cars,im hoping to get some advice from this site.i recently bought a fiat marea estate i have the red key for it but no code card.yesterday after driving for an hour it decided to give up...the imobilizer kicked in and it wouldnt start...i managed to get it jump started and had a new battery put on.does anyone know if the battery not holding charge could be the reason for the imobilizer to kick in.how do i go about getting a code card for the car.????

I could be wrong but if you have a red key I don't think you get a code card for the immobilizer.
I'm sure when some of the other guys get in from work they will be able to tell you more tho.:D
Good choice on a Marea tho stylish, cheap and practical! (y)

The battery running flat could cause a whole examiner full of faults. Now the battery is replaced, is it behaving itself?
it seems to be fine now the battery has been changed.i wanted the imobilizer taken out but cant get any1 to do it because its so difficult...

There isn't a code to put into the car. The only code there is, is for the Radio. If you disabled the Imobiliser you would have to inform your insurance company that you have disabled it. Valeen has been taking his battery out of his car each night due to a radio fault and the immobiliser hasn't disabled the car. The Fiat Code system is quite a good system. Stop worrying and enjoy your Marea (y)

Replied to your PM.
The code card for the immobiliser gives you the number for the emergency starting procedure if the immobiliser fails.
It is only needed if you get a key or ignition transponder failure. These are quite rare so as Hellcat says, just enjoy your car. :)
