I assume that this is a Weekend and the middle belt stuck after you had dropped the backrest down.
If that is the case, pull up the seat base and un bolt the belt at the floor end.
This takes the tension out of it and then you can pull as much of the belt out as you want. Then simply re bolt it in place.
To stop it happenning in future, whenever the middle belt is not being used, make sure it is clipped in as it would be if its in use.
You can guess by the above that this has happened to me more than once.
