Hi All.

Tomorrow morning i'm going to install my new front drilled/grooved disc's and Mintex Pad's but my question is, will i need that caliper winding tool or will i just need to use the G-clamp method.

1998 Fiat Marea 2.0 20v

Thanks.

Cheers all.
I did it today, it was easier than I thought. just the usual tight caliper bolts. Disc's look cool though behind my corroded factory alloys.

If I do decide to change the rear disc's for drilled/grooved one's, I think i'll get a garage to do it for me.

Its not that hard and theres plenty of details on how to go about it in the STILO section (y)

When my Fr brakes bed in I might go for the back pair, I can't find the post in the Stilo section though.

And i'll eh ? take some pic's if the weather get's better aswell.

You can't find any posts in the stilo section  its a very talked about subject I would have thought you would find loads of posts on this :) anyway there is a cube shaped tool on the market and this fits the stilo back caliper pistons is yours is of the same dimensions then this will do the job for you they are available from good tool stores I know draper do them and they are about £7 to buy also you should be aware that the rear caliper pistons possibly wind in on the one side a different direction to the other [if its the same as the stilo] will give you more info if you attempt the job and at a later time (y)

Cheers, I did find some posts on the rear caliper after all.
I think I may have a go at doing it before the end of the summer.

Please excuse the corroded factory alloy, but hear are the disc's.
Unfortunately I can't afford new alloys at the mo, after buying the cambelt and brakes parts, oh and now I've got to replace the drivers track rod end next.

The main reason why I went and bought these new brakes was because as you said, the brake fade on Standard brakes is astranomical at any speed above 80mph (at night only), so with these new brakes fitted, so far I haven't come across any brake fade as yet but as I'm still bedding in the brakes, I haven't gone over 60mph yet to be safe.

But I would say that these brakes will have GOOD potential once bedded in.

So I can't complain at only £130 inc of postage.

Cheers.

cheers rob i'll order some next weekend probably.

yes i did scare myself when i was slowing from about 90 and then i stop slowing at about 60 with a roundabout in front of me(private road)

Ah, Roundabouts, don't you just like the way they just "pop up ahead".

Oh, and when it came to brake fade, last month I drove to Central London from where I live, and the brake fade on the way there was awfull, even on the motorway.

But if you do order some, it would be nice to see how much better you think they are on braking distance's.

Hi, If you've got Black Diamond combo's all round, is it worth me now getting the rear Drilled/grooved one's to match the one's i've got on the front of mine, because I can really start to feel my brakes improving.

Bearing in mind that most Fr wheel drive cars have a brake bias of around 90%/10% Fr/Rr.

Cheers
