Lo all,

I have a Marea 110 JTD 2001. Can I use bio diesel in my car? Have read reports which say any car after 1990 can use the stuff and other reports which say that only VWs and all connected manufacturers can use the stuff.

Puzzling

Cheers for any help

I can remember when my father was running a 306 Turbo Diesel (Bosch rotary pump, not the later HDI's) on rapeseed for Peugeot. This was about 10 years ago now but what I remember most was that it used to loose power after a few thousand miles due to clogged up fuel filters. Every time the filter was changed, the time until the next filter was block reduced by about 1,000 miles. They gave up and let him run the car on normal pump diesel again!

I know a major diesel engine manufacturer (not FIAT) that only recommends running biodiesel at a 50% mix with normal pump diesel.

It's the normal pump diesel that blocks the fuel filter. Bio Diesel is cleaner and tends to send all the gunk in the tank down the fuel lines to the filter.

Nigel at Angeltuning runs his 2.4 JTD Alfa 156 on Biodiesel and has no issues.

The car had a handfull of miles on it (less than 1K) when it was changed to rapeseed.

i was using bio diesel in myfiat marea 2.4 jtd 1997 after 2000 miles the filter and injectors got clogged and then i got some used cooking oil from local resturant the filter and injectors got clogged in 1 day now also the injector pump is damaged. the money i saved will now be paid to the garage. my advice is not to used more than 25% bio 75% diesel 100% bio wil land you in trouble like me.

Have you not heard that when you start running Veg/Bio you should have a spare filter or two handy as the crud get's lifted from the bottom of the tank.

What filtration did you use on the used oil ?
