Hey guys:
My wife has told me a couple of times that her Marea acts strange when some light shows up in her engine...
I went to the car with her and put the key in second position to see all gauges to identify which one is it?
I remember it was something like the attachment...sorry for my bad drawing abilities:(
WHen this happens, she says the car hesitates and runs like rough...if she turns the engine off and restarts it, it goes away???
I poured yesterday a couple of bottles of STP injector cleaner to see if it helps...
Please help ...

You the man...thanks bro...
Should I change the transmission fluid then?

Just a thought...If the transmission fluid has high temperature reading it could mean that it has lost its protective properties such as viscocity and so on...
If I do a transmission fluid flush and pour new fluid would it help?

Guys, sorry to bitch so much, but my wife is diving me crazy calling me everytime this light goes on...should I change the tranny fluid?

Some years back I all-but destroyed the (probably much tougher) auto box in a Land Rover Discovery through neglect of the transmission fluid. It was main-dealer serviced but thay had neglected to amend the service schedlue to take account of my heavy-duty usage. The upshot was that one day I lost all drive and had to wait several hours for the transmission to cool, before the clutches would bite, and I could continue. Of course by that stage the recovery truck had arrived...

What came out when I had a 4x4 specialist drain the 'box was more like treacle than oil, I am told. I have not been near any main-dealer since.

Longer term the governor was wrecked and had to be replaced. It then transpired that the clutches were damaged too and I needed a new gearbox.

My advice is that if you are in any doubt whatsoever then you should change both the transmission fluid and, if one is fitted, the filter as well. Think yourself lucky that your warning light is working... the sensor on mine had been disconnected by the previous owner!

HTH

I took the car to the local Fiat dealership and the next day they called me saying that the gearbox has to be repaired because the transmission oil has almost no pressure. Luckily, they will fix it with no charge because I bought the car to them less than a month ago. They told me that was the reason the car hesitates, gets very rough and sometimes does not want to change gears at all...

6 weeks have passed and they gave us back our Marea...they had to change the complete transmission kit (discs, sensors, gaskets, fluid, valves, etc.), they recharged and cleaned the a/c and gave my wife a new battery for free! I had to pay nothing for this...(y) They even gave me a car in the meantime...can't get better than this...:D
Now it is running like a champ again and the car changes gears pretty neat...no hesitation, the car seems faster, and the ride seems smoother...thinking that it may get better mpg's now...
