Hi
Can anyone help with this problem I am asured by the previous owner that these worked but due to it being stood for a few weeks them now don't, could it just be a fuse or loose wiring???:bang: any help gratefully appreciated.
Not yet got a work shop manual for this car so if anyone has one they want to sell me!!
thanks

Hi bulldog thanks for the reply, Is the fuse box in the engine compartment or in the cockpit area inside the car? have noticed as well when I turn the ignition on the fuel gauge shoots up to the top of its gauge and then falls to the bottom and the opposite for the temp gauge!!!

Yes all other warning lights ect are working correctly.
So I have to take instrument cluster off to get to the multi plug? or is it one of the plugs in the fuse box area?
cheers

Thanks Guys
I will unplug the instrument cluster tomorrow as it late and not much light out there, I only hope this works cos other than this problem the car is working and drives fine! I will keep you posted
Thanks again all your comments are much appreciated

Just had a thought as well as a beer!
Would I get the same effect if I diconnected the battery??
cos I guess we are resetting the instruments or wouldn't this work?
well only one way to find out :D
Yeah the miles/trip ect are all fine!

Good point but i'm sure it didnt work for me in the past so had to disconnect cluster, talking bravo here remember but worth a try. This has the advantage of reseating the terminal block connector incase its a connection fault.(make sure you have radio code if required).
Dont have marea wiring diagram here (has anyone else?) but I have gut feeling its a cluster fault, either way taking it out will let you check for lives & earths.

From what I can see pin number 17 is ignition live (must be ok as warning lights work unless internal connection is broken),pin number 14 is earth, this is common to the 4 dials that are not working so check this closely,it shares its earth (22) with the fuel sender or looks like fuel sender...think I need glasses! (56A)

Well disconnected the battery this morning and dismantled the instrument cluster, unplugged and left for about 1 hour.
reconnected the battery and reconnected the instrument cluster and hey presto it worked :slayer:
thank you all for helping me to resolve this problem:worship:
power to the forums (y)
cheers fellas
