Hello all,
Just bought me a marea weekend 2.0 HLX, More than pleased with the car:D ,
but.....
put my own stereo in, JVC KD-G612 connected it with the two ISO plugs that were in the factory stereo. The stereo works fine but everytime i switch the ignition off i loose all the settings on my stereo:mad:, including time, equaliser settings and cd position.
This never happened with my last car and is getting a tad frustrating:bang:

so, has anybody experienced similar problems or know of any remedies, I haven't got a clue where to start.

many thanks!!!!

Is it just me or have we had a spate of 'radio losing settings' threads recently? Start of April the time of year for fitting new head units?

Just out of interest what make of adapter did you use and where did you buy it from? I've heard the audioleads ones are a pretty poor fit and the plastic doesn't match in colour or texture.

Also have you kept your steering wheel buttons working?

cheers for quick reply!

i found the red cable (12v power) but there is no yellow, do you know what position on the block it should be?

i used the audioleads adaptor from halfords, it's not a great fit. the bottom comes awy from the dash a bit, i may just glue it down.

I tried to find the manual on the JVC website but your model is not listed. Typical.

Do you have a pin-out in your manual? There should be memory and 12vdc inputs listed. Both need power to keep your settings and operate.

Put power only to memory will not allow the radio to switch on (But it will keep its settings ).
Put power only to 12vdc will allow the radio to switch on but it will lose its settings when switched off.
Put power to both will allow radio to operate and will keep settings but won't switch on and off with ignition.
Put power to memory and a switched power to 12vdc will allow the radio to switch on and off with ignition and keep settings.

seems i need to run a constant power conection from a live terminal (direct to battery) in the fusebox to the stereo. gonna have a crack tomorrow. thanks for all the help, i'll let you know if it works.

When i did mine the the 2 power leads with in line fuses (or were they bullet connectors?) coming out of the head unit, one red wire and i think the other was orange. Swap them over and it should work.
If not use a multimeter and check the pins with ignition off to find your 12v constant live.
Wires on the headunit are usually labeled with their function.

Problem solved!!!
red and orange wires swapped.
settings stored.

now i just need to find an adaptor to hook up the steering wheel controls and find a spot for me 6 - 9s.

thanks again everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!
