does anyone have the answer to why after pressing the button on the dasboard to get the temperature display up in the mileage display it doesn't reset after 10 secs like its supposed to:confused: if you press the reset button it does nothing, until you hold it in long enough to flash up the lieage reading before returning to the temperature display, once it has decided to reset the tripmeter that is:bang: :bang: it will stay like that for days, or until it is a rainy day, not that you have to wait too long for that:D it surely must be a faulty relay or similar, i have tried disconnecting the switch to no effect(n) i have seen this seems to be a common problem, anyone come up with a permanent solution other than to resist pressing the button:rolleyes: it is a handy thing to know, shame i can't use it:( it does flash up the temp in the mornings as i drive away when its below 3 deg so it seems to function as it should, just a proiblem with the recall system:(

Try this...

Step1.

Enter Car. (Dont put any key in ignition)

Step2.

On your heater dials. Set the Left Knob (Temperature) Clockwise to HI position.

Step3.

On your heater dials. Set the Right Knob (Airflow) Clockwise to the MAX DEF position.

Step4.

On the heater dials, Set the Middle Knob (Fan Speed) to position 'O'.

You must do the next few steps within 10 secs.

Step5.

Turn the ignition key from the OFF position to the ON position

Step6.

Within 10 secs, turn the centre knob placing it in the following positions '0' - AUTO - '0' - AUTO - '0'. (Start from Zero, go UP - DOWN - UP - DOWN)

Then watch the LCD display, it will give you an outside temp reading maybe, then ERR CLI then ERR and a number. Let me know this number and i will let you know what the fault is.

Its only works on MK2 Bravo/a Marea vehicles fitted with climate control and it only checks the air con, electrics and sensors.

What part of the heating elements do you want to check?

oh i didnt, i just wanted to know what the command did, mines a Mk1 Marea but i have climate control/air con (y)

@Hellcat you can check the external temp using the method above. (MK2's only)

@BullDog the MK1 doesn't have climate control its just air conditioning. It has no regulators and wont maintain temp.

hi mate, i had allready tried that sequence which brought up err 0 if memory serves, certainly was a 0 which i took to be no errors. :bang:

@Kev Yeah if you recieve a 0 then theres no fault with the system. Everything functions okay.

@Bulldog Maybe you have a MK2 then the change over year was 1998-1999 T reg onwards.

If your cars older, then someones fiddled with your car. Bravo/a and Marea all got revamped at the same time, however the Marea also got rebadged again at the end of its life with the newer round fiat logo on the bonnet.

been watching this thread with interest, has anyone any other switch combinations for diagnostic purposes etc ? or where can they be got

had a very similar thing with a marea with climate, the outside temp didnt work at all and after changing all the switches the problem was in fact(no joke) the aircon gas had runout...turns out the aircon has some sort of link to the outside sensor for the climate adjusting settings and without any gas the whole climate system shut down.

I've had this problem intermittently, although strangely it tends to activate mainly when the outside temp's in the 15-18 degree range. I found, purely by accident, that I can clear it about 70% of the time by turning on the engine with the wipers stalk set to constant. No idea why that affects it, but hey if it works on my car then I'm going to use it!! :)
