Re: Weekend ball

If you buy a detachable one you can still lower the back bumper when its not fitted, I have a similar one and it was the best decision I made.

Re: Weekend ball

That's very cheap for the Brink. I had one of those one a Lancer Evolution and the mechanism they use to fit and remove makes it very fast to use.

Don't believe the 60 minutes fitting time though, on the Marea Weekend theres a LOT of drilling and opening up of holes!

Re: Weekend ball

Well I didn't get one... While I was umm'ing and arr'ing they all sold out and I was left with the only options being more expencive ones which required a cut in the bumper!

Until yesterday when I spotted one of the same up again only this time its an extra £3 delivery and an extra £5 for the item (I knew I should have bought one there and then!). Should be here in 3-5 working days (I'm expecting mid-next week) - I'm off on 18 days holiday from Sat. night so should have time to fit it - hopefully before Brooklands.

I'll take as many pics as possible, and create a Marea how-to for the guides. Hopefully with the use of my parents cellar staircase-come-semi-pit.

Re: Weekend ball

Well I took damn loads of pics! Not got the electrics wiered up yet, going to let the gf's dad do them since he's an technical electrician by trade - going to wire it properly rather than using them self-strimming piggy back connectors.

Re: Weekend ball

Does it have the ID plate next to the electrics? It should have the model number on it.

Re: Weekend ball

As with anything to do with the Weekend, it can be confusing!

Those cellar steps are my parents - so useful for doing anything under the car - I'm going to build a set myself in my garden even though I don't have a cellar!

As for the bolts on the drop down part - If you mean taking the whole thing including the hinges then yes, I think it was just 4 bolts, although I wasn't paying that much attention. The plastic bumper part is held on by 7 torx 30 bolts. The ones underneath are very likely to be rusty and will take a lot of oil and turning back and forth to get off without snapping.

Ryan, there are only a couple of towbars that fit the Weekend so it shouldn't be too hard to trace which bar you need. I would have thought the ball would be an orderable part since the chance of losing the ball is greatly higher than the frame which is bolted onto the car! Get a pic of the underside and I'll see what the guy I bought the bar from says.

As for towing, not sure if you are affected by the newish rules on tow weights. It all depends when you got your driving licence.

Re: Weekend ball

those cellar steps are well handy. i've wanted to put a pit in my garage for years but it costs too much. i never feel safe under a car. my uncle died when his car fell on him. never use bricks, axle stands are a must.

Halfords can order you a new ball or you can contact Brink directly.
