Hello! This is my first post at the forum, although I have been a viewer for a long time now. This is the best forum for Fiat talk, great!

Now here is my concern: I own an 97 Marea Weekend 1.6 ELX with 99800KM (based in Norway) on the clock. One of the rear shock absobers (left) have an oil leak. It looks like the change is no problem on the left hand side, but the problem is the one mounted on the right side.

How do you get any tools in next to the fuel tank? Anyone who has done the job? Is it possible to get to the upper mounting from in the car?

Thanks for advice!

did this job last night goes like this.
jack up car remove rear wheel
use second jack to raise up the rear suspension arm to compress shock a bit.
remove bottom nut and bolt and pull clear (19mm socket)
access to top bolt on both sides is from the wheel well you should see an access hole thru the chassis to a bolt head (15mm socket)
sometimes a plastic insert might obscure the view.
the nut is welded on to the far side of the chassis
use caution removing this as you dont want the socket to come undone and fall into the chassis member !!
when the bolt is clear withdraw socket (carefully !!) and use a longnosed pliers to bring out the bolt the rest of the way.
fit the new shock starting with the lower bolt first.
at your ease on a v cold night with an irritating cat for company the job should take no longer than 40mins for the pair
