Has anybody any trick how can i read me ECU ? TD100.
Which is program good for my car and has anybody a cable data ?

Thx,

Hi,
I've been looking for a low cost reader for a while now. They usually go for about £400 on ebay.
As far as I know the Uniscan, (euroscan visa 1.83), is not yet available in the UK. There are a couple of sites in China and Eastern Europe where you can get it from.

Any ideas Tibor?

Hi Tibor !

Thanks your information and I donloaded the program, but it does not work my cable. I have a 97' TD100 and it is working witk K-Line cable !
Do you have some information about this cable?
Or do you have drawing from the adapter?
I have an adapter with max232 IC but it seems to me that is not working!
Question: Does Uniscan program work only under DOS ?
If I want an adapter are you able to send me ?
Thanks,
Regards,
whity

the MAX232 integrated circuit adapter will provide the signal level conversion required (solves the 0/5v to -12/+12v problem), 14pin k-line cable with a k-line - OBDII adapter plug should be fine. you can get the k-line - ODBII adapter plug from maplins website i think. i found a pdf with pics of cables including the adapter here http://en.etasgroup.com/catalog/pdf_05/11_9.pdf

if i misunderstand you and you already have the k-line ODBII adapter plug then check on the ODBII plug - pin4 is ground, pin16 is live, pin7 is K line (data). some cars need a "ecu wake up" L line on pin 15. this may be your problem but i dont know if the marea needs a wake up signal.

as far as im aware uniscan only works in dos. not 100% on that

think i may have found something for you, when using a max232 IC for your rs232 interface the Rx inputs on the ELM IC are all inverted. sort it by placing another inverter in series with the Rx input

Here's how you can connect a MAX232 to provide both the RS232 interface, and the inversion on the Rx input.

and for people who are wondering what the hell im on about here's a nice pic

car_connection_iso.png

this shows the cables with connections at either end. the "elmscan" is just an odb to rs232 interpreter. easily made with a few basic components and a soldering iron.

getting the damn thing to actually work is always good fun.

i got a couple of similar applications from limewire. you dont actually need any special software, once you have an interpreter made up you can communicate using a terminal window, its much like the old fashioned "modemspeak". its a bit hard to get your head round, i've got a good guide somewhere, i'll hav to hav a look for it. you basically type a command, wait for a response, translate the response using the guide, use guide to get input code for your next command, type input in, wait for next response, a bit like dos or unix really. not as nice as a flashy program but all the flashy program really does is translate the returned code for you and allow you to use point and click on menus which then generates the input commands for you. uniscan is just a pretty translator to help you talk to the modem and understand what it says, but you dont have to use any program. one of the main weakneses of programs like unisys is they fairly often dont actually give you a good description of the error for en ecu fault code. you may get a response like error code 23. thats means bot all if you dont have a table with the fiat error code descriptions, and programs like uniscan rarely have them built in (well i havent seen one that does yet anyway)

Hello,
Thanks the lot of information.
But.
I made a adapter, this adapter use a max232 IC and it does not work.
I attached the picture. I use it.
I checked my ECU, and it has only a K-Line plug . I read it in the workshop manual.
What do you think, a K-Line adapter is on the picture ?
I think I need a K-line adapter, but I do not have.
Or do you have a K-Line adapter drawing ?

Thanks

Hi Whity.
Uniscan software don´t work with your K-Line adapter- cable. !!
Uniscan software work only uniscan adapter. Uniscan is K-L adapter and hardware key for Uniscan software. Uniscan adapter need 2 com port, notebooks usualy have only 1 com port. Uniscan can work under DOS, Win95,Win98.
I write diagnostic software for Marea 1.6 16v ECU 1AF, this software work with K-L adapter and need only 1 com port.

Tibor & others,

Can someone translate in english the menu in ECUFiatmarea1.6 16v.exe such as "blocco select, blocco host & etc available in the menu?

The Schema K-L which I've d/loaded does not show the +ve, -ve, K line & L Line.

Thanks in advance!

CheeseMaster,

Thanks but no Slovak to English. I think the software menu uses the Slovak as well!

Cheers
