Hi,
I just got a Marea 20V that won´t start. It cranks but will not fire.
Previuos owner said it was running a few months ago, got it really cheap so wanted to give it a shot.

Haven´t been able to check spark yet. I´ve pressed emergency shutoff button.
Cleaned all electrical connectors in engine compartment. Fresh battery.
Tried cranking with starting gas, but no fire. Checked plugs and they seemed dry so problem with fuel/spark? Should fire on starting gas if spark?

Any more ideas? Will get help from wife today to check spark.
Could´nt find any fuses behind glovedepartment as stated in manual?
Only main fuses above battery and fuses next to steering wheel, all seem OK.

Should you be able to hear fuel pump when you put ignition on?

You should hear the fuelpump prime when you turn ignition on, just keep the door open.
When cranking it should be always on.

The fuel pump relay also sends power to the coils, lambda and injectors so if you dont hear fuelpump, you most likely dont have power on those either. So no spark or fuel.

Check all fuses under the hood and inside.

Does the immobizer turn off (yellow key on dash)?

I found the problem, it was fuse 3A-F6 in fusebox next to steering-wheel on drivers side. Manual says fuse protecting "Incection memory and CODE, fan".
So now it´s running, but now the next problem appeared... Alternator is stuck so the belt is slipping and smoking like hell. Tried bashing and spraying it with rust solvent, but no luck. Guess I have to tear out the alternator and change the bearings..:(
Can you remove the A/C pump and move it to the side without disconnecting the A/C lines? So I can access the alternator from top? Or is the only option to get alternator out from the bottom/fender?

Use SEARCH in advanced to find the older posts covering alternator :)

Alternetor comes out the bottom without touching the AC. You need to twist it and play with the motor mount.
