marea clutch

Hi
after owning a Marea for 6 years I have only just come across our forum.

I have nothing but praise for my car, but there has always been 1 niggle, can any one help.

I have had the car since 9 months old and 10,000 miles. It has now done 80,000 miles, all this time I have been waiting for the clutch to loosen up a bit.

Don't get me wrong the gear change is perfect, but I find the clutch very heavy (stiff), to the point my physio reckons the problem with my foot is down to my clutch.

Does anyone know if you can adjust the cluch so it is not so heavy (stiff), without affecting the gear change, because as I say this is ok.

Also is anyone else got a 1.6 16v sx with air con, sunroof and passenger air bag, or is this a special.

Finally my black rubber door handles and door mirrors are weathering really badly, does anyone have any advise.

As I have finally found you I thought I might aswell get all my present thoughts in

Thanks

Graham

Re: marea clutch

Hi Graham and welcome to our forum

Check that the brake fluid is topped up and try bleeding the clutch cylinder.

Air con and sunroof were not fitted together as standard so it looks like someone took an option.

Fit some painted handles from a breakers, method here: http://www.fiatboo.co.uk go to 'modding' 'Door handle replacement'

Re: marea clutch

Thank you for your welcome

I've been on different car forums before, and this is definately the most freindly.

I will give your suggestions a try, but knowing me it will take a while with these dark nights.

Thanks again
Graham

Re: marea clutch

The handles are cheap and will rot, nothing can be done about this.

Clutch strange - both my 20v and 1.6 16V have been fine on that score so not normal!
