Hi All,

I have a 1998 Marea TD100 which has sprung an oil leak. I have checked into this further to find there are two pipes going from the oil filter housing to a unit in the drivers wheel arch area. Is this an oil cooler ?

The leak appears to be coming from the pipe unions which both look in pretty poor condition. Are they quite easy to change, is it just a straight replacement job?

Finally, anybody know where is the best place to get replacement pipes from, don't really like paying Fiat prices. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Regards
AB.

After much searching have managed to source an oil cooler and pipes from a salvage yard for a very cheap £20. The oil cooler off a TD100 Bravo/Brava fits fine.

A word of warning for anyone else with this problem Fiat charge about £70 each for the pipes and about £130 for an oil cooler, quoted by my local Fiat Garage. All items are special order with a delivery time of 3-5 days.

I found this company on the net and spoke to them about my problem. Providing the metal part of the pipe is ok they can replace the rubber hose if the old pipe is sent to them. They can also supply oil cooler kits which it may be possible to fit to the Marea with a bit of grafting.

Anything to prevent paying Fiat's outrageous prices for these parts. I am looking into replacing the oil cooler and oil filter takeoff with something a bit more common for any future problems.

sorry, didn't see your post.

for future ref (of other members), the pipes are only held in by allen screws (1 at each end). the flanged ends have an o ring in them, but the metalic pipes at each end can corrode.

Replaced 1 on my wifes W/E 100TD a few months ago. bought it from fiat and they only charged me £41 for the botton (longest pipe) don't know where your dealer gets £70 from.

Good to hear jobs done.
