this is how NOT to fit a water pump. the result of being stressed, and rushing to put something back together when a *pick the kids up from school* deadline is looming.
luckily i have been keeping an eye on temps and levels this last week and noticed the drop in fluid, also very luckily, I still had the old pump and the seal was in good condition with plenty of elasticity left in it. This time i eased it in gently while nice and wet, (ooher!) with a smidgen of soap to help it glide in undamaged this time. a waste of time, i could have been doing other productive things instead of re-doing a job i'd already done.
may the mocking commence
