Hi,
looking for info;

seen a cheap'ish 110 , but would really need Cruise fitting,

I know the Stilo of this age is Pre-wired..,
does the 2002 marea have a chance of plug'n play cruise..??

does it have a clutch-switch..??

any info most welcome,

thanks,
Charlie

Hi,
Depends on the exact model of ECU and dash module fitted. Early ones had the inputs but would not "enable" cruise. An easy way to tell is the engine fault light on the dash. If it looks like an injector you can't add cruise, if it looks like an engine you can. While I now own a Croma, I had a 110 JTD Marea Weekend and tried to install cruise control. I could see on FiatEcuscan (yes it was pre MES) that it responed to the inputs when I manually shorted them. It said it was enabled, so I went ahead and fitted the stalk (from an Alfa) but it would not work. I then found out about the fail light clue, Mine had an injector symbol :-(
I still have the cruise stalk if you need one (and your Marea has the right symbol)

this and ODB2 is why my search for another Marea is limited to post 2nd facelift models.
thanks to Neverth, look for round FIAT logo and round speedo and tacho dials. 2002 model should be just fine.

i had a quote from a company who said "The cost of a cruise control system for the Marea, including the CM35 stalk control, is £230.00 + £14.00 delivery to France (Air Mail) + VAT (20%). The total cost is £292.80"

Thanks, turns out it's late 2001 ,:( but round Badge + Dials, ;)

should be OBD 2..??

I was planning on checking the "engine symbol", and clutch switch.., but OBD Socket could be another good sign,

Such a long time since I bought my '99 jtd105 in 2001:eek:
Cheers,
Charlie

My JTD110 was an early 2001 (Y prefix). It had an EOBD/OBDII 16 pin connector and this
Marea-ECU.jpg
Bosch ECU. Engine fail light was injector symbol. I don't recall the dial style. As stated before, FiatEcuScan reported the cruise discrete inputs changing but cruise would not engage. There was no wiring to the ECU cruse input pins

HTH,

P.S. Mine had the old "bars" badge.

I'll update this in the coming days, as my Ebay bid was apparently successful;)

car has the "injector" symbol:confused: but the "Round Badge",
TBH with the history file, and way it runs I got a fair deal.. BUT cruise will be a big factor..,

I'll dig at the innards for more info and keep things updated.., :)

Hi,
Good buy. I may have been misleading on the badge, it had bars on the back door but a round grille badge, it's been a couple of years. Possibly a changeover mode. Check the ECU code (it's in the passenger footwell. If it's the same as mine you are out of luck. It's a pity. I did look at fitting a later ECU, but you need to change the dash as well (perhaps even more) and that's not practical.

Robert.

what other interior options.. 156.. sportwagon..

Marea limited edition St Moritz, was that even an option in the UK?
it has lovely white backlit dials and cream roof bars, and best of all, a light grey leather interior, door cards, the lot.

scroll down on this french forum site to have a few photos of what i intend to get, one day, one day....

socket location..?,
drivers right knee..??

Charlie

More between the knees. Just behind the edge of the trim panel below the steering wheel. It faces down and has a dust cap on it (well mine did and it was tight fitting) and is hard to see. You need to kneel on the ground outside the car and look up with a torch to find it
On mine I could see the Cruise inputs and their status changed when I connected them, BUT I oucld not enable the cruise option (Fiatecuscan at the time). I suggest you try to enable the cruise option before going any further.
