Technical cruise Control - compatible? 2002 jtd 110

My JTD110 was an early 2001 (Y prefix). It had an EOBD/OBDII 16 pin connector and this

Bosch ECU. Engine fail light was injector symbol. I don't recall the dial style. As stated before, FiatEcuScan reported the cruise discrete inputs changing but cruise would not engage. There was no wiring to the ECU cruse input pins

my ECU.. looks darn similar.. , cannot find any trace off OBD plug.. so looks like I've backed a loser in the "cruise dept".,

Hi Charlie,
It's not an identical ECU so don't give up just yet.
Another possible location is on near the fusebox that is inside the dashboard. IIRC there is an access panel on the dashboard below and outbord of the sterring wheel it is held on with screws. Have a look in there.

Hi Charlie,
I think I was giving you duff information:(
It's to the outside edge of the auxillary fusebox that is behind the oval cover by the drivers knee. It's partially hidden behind a wiring loom.

The first location I gave you was for a Peugeot 306 1.8 SW:bang: :bang:
In my defence it's well over a year since I sold the Marea and no-one else was helping.

Appologies,
Robert.

main interior fusebox ( drivers RIGHT knee)

I've looked at rear of glovebox ( above fan) just relays there + Fuses :(

Hi,
This is driving me crazy, I'm begining to doubt my memory. I finally found the location in the workshop manual
Marea-obd-wm.jpg
and it appears to be where I first thought. just under the edge of the trim below the steering wheel. One of them (the Pug or Marea, I can't be sure which now) had a black plastic cap and was very hard to see / indentify. The other was hidden behind a loom near a fuse / relay box. The BOSCH ECU you have means the car HAS got a 16 pin connector, not a 3 pin.
Were are you located?

Robert.

one last look this morning..,

had the scuttle open clearing leaves , etc , and sorting the wiper motor,

back out 12'ish to move car and look under dash..all attempts thus far have been hanging upside down from seats ( in pouring rain)

OBD Socket = Located..!!

complete with plastic cap:rolleyes:

It's on the BOTTOM face of the fusebox.. pointing at the floor.

I'll try and add a GUIDE,

Actually got to connect to ECU, :woot:

glow-plug and EGR Codes present:rolleyes:

onto the "Cruise issue"

not opening in MES - but would I need a switch plugged in..??

tried testing CRUISES " Tacho" icon.. no dice( manual didn't show one anyway)

BUT wouldn't show the water in filter light either.. so MAY just be a fault:(

Glow fault is P0380 - says low signal.. BUT then says NOT shown on dash= BUT the light DOES FLASH..!!:bang::doh:

Ah glad you got ity in the end :)
if the glowplug gubbins are the same as mine, it only says show on dash, when it is actually flashing, this is a problem to test when starting the car, as the ECU drops the connection to MES, using the test actuators tab is how i made sure mine was doing as it should.
with a dead glowplug, mine said bad connection to ground, or something along those lines.
just pray it is not number 2, sods law it will be.

had a quick look - armed with the great GUIDE from stilo JTD section,
got some VERY weird numbers.. DID I say -" I HATE ELECTRICS" (n)

all my old-skool plugs were screw on caps(M5.5?)

these appear to be different.. maybe "press-on" like spark plugs:confused:

anyway the Stilo guide / thread suggested a poor connection that's been "improved" may clear after a few good starts..!!, time will tell,

Charlie

Great!, I thought I was halucinating. Now try and see if MES will enable the cruise option. If it does I have an Alfa stalk that fits.

Robert.

tried setting up Cruise in ECU options, says "circuit incomplete" or similar,
are you going to Brooklands?

as it would be great if we had the chance to meet / try it plugged in.., :)

Charlie

i am working concurrently on this as well, last night i managed to connect for just long enough to see that the brake pedal cruise switch option is not activated when the brake is depressed, so at aleast one component missing which will need wiring in. also the actuator for lighting the cruise bulb on the dash does nothing, so i'll have to have the dash out to see if it's just a missing bulb or if it's even there as an option.
time to hunt through the wiring diagrams.

I'll update this in the coming days, as my Ebay bid was apparently successful;)
