I´ve got a Marea 1.8ELX and thought I could change the spark plugs with ease... but NOT. There is a couple of torx to unscrew but the real problam came with the two "insex" screws (hexagon... whatever) next to the oil lid. They are impossible to unscrew, at least without damaging them. Any ideas why? I have tried to unscrew them with a cold and warm engine but nothing helps. Any tricks for this one? :bang:

Sorry about my bad english...

proberly has been an electrolocis[spelling] between metals.soak them in penatrating oil over night.cant remember if they are recessed or not.can you grip them round the outside with mole grips? if not,you will have to be diligent with the torx.by the way,i hate torx.they rust and strip to easy!!

Hi, I've done this recently on my own 1.8ELX, you will need a standard long 3 mm Allen Key.They are very tight and they will release with a sharp pull on the Allen Key.
The plugs are a long way down, they have an individual coil on each plug which must be removed first.
You will need an extension lever on your plug spanner and possibly a rubber insert to remove the plugs.
Make sure the plugs are labelled correctly.
Good Luck

I'm probably too late to be of use but I simply cut a groove across so I could use a screwdriver. A Dremel with a cutting disc did it just fine.
