When driving away with a cold engine in first gear with my Marea 1.6 Weekend ELX it judders and quite often stalls so that one is compelled to be very careful when engaging the clutch and at the same time the gas pedal but after the motor has warmed up the problem disapears.
Is this normal for a Marea and is just a question of getting used to it. If it's not normal what can you do about it?
Thanks for any tips or suggestions
Terry.

There are no warning lights on the dash, and yes I've had the car just 6 weeks. My previous car (Opel Astra Diesel) and no other which I've driven has had this problem. I'm wondering if this is typical behavior for all Fiat Mareas.

Hi,
You could have a problem with the temperature sender. If its not working then the ECU will not run the engine rich when its cold. This is like running with no choke.
I'm not aware of any cold issues with the Marea, in fact mine is quite perky when it first starts and I have to resist the temptation to play until it warms up.

My 2.0l 20v did this - it turned out to be a cable on the Lamdar sensor in the front pipe exhaust snapping - since replacing it all has been fine.

It was especially bad when it was damp and misfired until warm.

Managed to get one on Ebay for £35 but dealers quote double that for a good one (Boche or NGK).

I've had to get used to this on a cold morning - on first driving away there's just a bit of a judder as the clutch is fed out - like a bit of 'bounce' from the cush drive. I've got a T junction after a few yards, and the problem's always gone by that point.
