I have recently bought a T reg 1999 weekend 105jtd elx. I am so pleased with this lovely car its bright red and very Italian, its done 85k but is as new.
It went like this. I had stopped at traffic lights and put on my handbrake. When I moved off I released the handbrake but I need to to push hard on the accelerator to get up to speed. I was concerned so I stopped but when I pressed the brake pedal it was as if the brakes were already on the pedal was right up high. I pumped it a few times and it all went back to normal.
I wonder if the handbrake some how stayed on even though I had released it and the handbrake handle was it the off position.
This has now happened twice over the last thirty or so journeys.
Has anybody any solutions or experienced this problem?
Thanks

assuming the handbrake is drums on the marea.
you need to get the drums of to check inside.could be a few tings
leaky cylinder
build up of brake dust
sticky mechanism
sticky cable
i had this on a car where the rear shoes would actually grab on as i was driving along.checked everything and in the end replaceed the shoes with quality replacements and that stopped the problem.
