sorry forgot to mention, I'm not sure if its a JTD engine, my car is an early '97 TD100 P reg so does the same tuning still apply? also has anybody any ideas on fitting a dump valve, I know there are some kits on the market but are there any specific for the fiat turbodiesel engine?
You can wind up the actuator rod for increased boost however the best gains are from fooling the fuel pumps regulator to give more fuel. If you do a search on DH tuning boxes, these are the ones that should work with your car. I'm not sure what they do on the Peugeot Forums but make sure you're looking at the standard electronically controlled fuel systems rather than mechanical systems, Common Rail or VP Systems.
If it is a mechanical pump then you don't need a tuning box however I would have expected the 100 and 124 to be running electronically controlled fuel pumps and the 75 just the normal mechanical rotary pump. Someone with a Porter manual would need to confirm this as I'm working from experience of what's required to achieve the emmision standards with that power for a Euro 2 compliant engine.
With a mechanical pump you can adjust it for free by advancing the ignition timing, richening the normal fuelling and tweaking the air flow correction circuit. Then there's the old MoT passing trick of blocking off the EGR actuator pipe with a ball bearing so that you don't get the exhaust fumes back through the engine.
The only down side of this is that you will get a louder diesel knock (advanced timing) and some black smoke on acceleration (and possibly an MoT failure)
