I need a "good" service manual to cover my Marea Weekender SX 1.6 petrol,(manufactured 2000). I need it initially to do a timing belt change.

According to Amazon, Porters have a Marea manual and although Haynes don't do a book specifically for the Marea, they claim their Brava version covers certain models of Marea.

Does anyone know if the Haynes covers my model?
Or should I try the Porters (which I'm totally unfamiliar with, but have heard are rather basic)

Any advice appreciated.

Like you, I am used to Haynes manuals.

I bought the Porter manual to do the cambelt change on my Marea TD100. It is, as you say, not as comprehensive as the Haynes manual; IMO it requires a certain amount of reading between the lines and certainly assumes a higher standard of basic knowledge than Haynes.

If your engine is common to Bravo/Brava (mine isn't) then I would have thought that the Haynes manual would provide greater detail if you can work around the fact that other aspects of the engine bay may be different. I don't have one myself though so suggest you go to Halfords or similar and see for yourself if in doubt.

Hello!

I have a TD100 Marea too. And I would like a good service manual. Do you have? Haynes is good or the Porter is better?
If you have it do not you want to sell it? :)
Could you help me to buy the best choice?
I am In Hungary and here is not a book !
Thanks

Fiat Marea
We do not, and have no plans to publish manuals for this vehicle in the future. This may be because the model range has not sold in sufficient numbers and we can't consider doing a manual until there is enough of a particular model on the road for us to be sure of covering our costs.

so its the porter manual, are there no manuals on cd, i've seenlots for other cars on e-bay

I've got both the Haynes (Bravo/Brava) and the Porter manual.
The Haynes is the best and easiest to follow manual, but I refer to the Porter one for bits about my 2.4TD engine - not covered in the Haynes book.

If your engine is the same as in the Bravo/Brava I'd go for the Haynes one.

I bought one of these, relying on that description - "ALL MODELS"
It's only when you get it that you find in the small print....
NOT COVERED:
• 1998cc 20V petrol engines.

It's pretty useless for my model, for the jobs I'm likely to attempt.

There ARE apparently Workshop CDs. I've just bid for one on eBay. Will let you know if it's any good.

i have just bought one of the cd's of ebay for my 1.6. so will let u know what it is like when it comes.

well the cd turned up and it seems ok so far. good for the price u pay.
