Please can anyone help ?
I have a 2002 Marea with the Diesel 1.9 JTD 110 engine.
.
The red injection warning light has come on and stayed on. The car will run for a few minutes and then cut out. We have had the codes read and there are no problems....BUT the E.T.C. and the I.A.T. show a temperature of 419 degrees F !!
This is clearly the fault as the Inlet Air Temperature is NOT 419 degrees !
.
Disconnecting the M.A.F. does NOT drop the reading to zero so there must be a separate sensor. My Husband has searched around but cannot find it at all ?
Please can anyone tell me where the I.A.T. sensor actually is located.??
Thanks in advance,
Kat.

To my knowledge MAF is the only air temperature sensor.
Disconnecting mine (not diesel) brings up errors for something along: intake airtemperature signal low and same for flow.
Dont know what the actual value was when disconnected as it didnt matter.

No errorcodes at all? Should atleast throw signal out of range or something like that.

Hi Neverth,
I think that I must be reading the machine wrong !...It does initially show 2 codes but as soon as it gets to the 'Diagnostic' page there are NO CODES....
The live readings show 419degrees F on the Air Inlet Temp and the Engine Temperature Coolant....

About a month ago I put the car in a ditch...or rather skidded along a grass verge until it came to a halt.....But..I did not think that there was any damage other than to the body.Everything ran just fine.....
The underside appears completely undamaged as does all the wiring loom but I am wondering if I the 'bouncing' along the verge has 'knackered' the ECU itself.

I do not think that the Diesels of 2002 have a sensor on the Cat...or whatever the rounded fat cylinder is at the bottom of the exhaust manifold....So I am at a loss at the moment.

A mechanic friend is coming over hopefully on Monday to 'Check' the code reader with me .....The car has now gone into some kind of 'protection / limp' mode so that even for the 30 seconds to 2 minutes that the engine Will actually run the Turbo waste-gate is wide open and it is completely gutless.

I have a nasty feeling that I might have 'killed' the Marea...:eek:...and that is a real pity......:(

Alb ..Kats Hubby... A.K.A. the deer avoider !...I should have hit the bloody thing and not swerved....

Wierd for it to read in fahrenheits. If the light is on, there should be something to read...Atleast i think the >200C is out of range from the sensor (or maybe its able to measure the airtemp from glowplugs...no idea).
Only thing that could really hurt the engine on the underside are the fuel lines (kinked -> not enough flow/pressure) and the oilsump having a hole in it :)

Tried MultiECUScan if you got the cables? Or is this a standalone OBDII reader?
Even the free version of MultiECUScan is able to read from JTD engines.

Cant say much about diesels in Mareas as Ive only ever seen one 2.4JTD weekend being on sale in this country.
ECU thinking its overheating might try to lessen the load on the engine/shut it down, no idea.
