Following on from my towbar fitting, I dropped the back seat back cushion down forgetting what I already knew would happen - the middle seat belt pulls in tight and jams. There isn't enough slack in the belt to try and release the lock. Does anybody else have this problem and what is the quick way to release it? I managed it before once but this time it is stuck and if I raise the back seat back up it gets really tight.

I did exactly the same, what a job, having unbolted the belt from the base i put two screw rivets through the belt (the kind you can bind fool scape paper together with) with just enough slack. now the belt returns only as far as the two stops allow.
Now i know you should not alter seat belts but this is better than a belt that's unusable. and its passed the MOT ???

Sounds like a good idea if I ever get it unjammed. I have unbolted the belt at the base and still no luck - I think I've really messed up this time!

What a relief, a few days driving around with the belt end unbolted under the rear seat seems to have done the trick. I was ready for a fight with it and found the reel had released by itself! I'll be very careful in future to avoid this happening again and maybe put a stopper on the belt. So no need to worry about buckles.
