Noticed an oily mark on the carpark under the car after work the other night. Thought I better check that's not me when I got home.
Got home to find the battery side of the engine and everything over there covered in oil. Bad times.
Got the battery out and with the help of #1 son, identified the vacuum pump facial plate as loose. Over 2k it was spitting oil. Nipped up the bolt and leak fixed.
While I was there I traced a small pipe from the vacuum pipe behind the engine terminating in a 13A plug fuse. I assume this used to connect to the vacuum tank for the EGR valve? With this plugged, there is no vacuum to operate the EGR therefore no chance of a stuck open EGR.
Result!
