I need a quick confirmation that the front shocks of a 1.6 16v Marea and those for a 1.8 16v Marea are exactly the same.

I have made several checks on different makes and they all say that all models up to and including the 1.9 JTD use the same shocks both front and rear.

Only the 2.0 and 2.4 use other types.

A supplier where I can get a 1.6 set for a good price is insisting that they don't fit the 1.8.

That is CORRECT, they DO fit all models upto the 1.9 JTD

Another query: The set I've found is Marelli type 1712G. The Marelli catalogue states type 1822G for these models. I've looked this up on Internet and on some (Polish?) automotive site I found a shock being advertised for the Marea (of some brand) which replaces, amongst others, Marelli 1822G and 1712G.

Would this be a reliable hint?

Unfortunately, I have found no other website referring to this 1712G number and the 2008 Marelli catalogue doesn't mention this number at all.

Any ideas??
