Ok, with my 97 Marea I have 2 blue keys and no red key (didn't know about the red key when I bought the car).

I have been offered a full new lockset (door locks and ignition lock) with two blue keys and a red key, would this be programable to my ECU giving me 3 keys or would the ECU need the original red key as I fear??

Another option I thought of is to cut off the fob off one of the orignal blue keys and stash it in the car to bypass the imobilliser and just use an unprogramed key.

The reason I am looking about keys is two of us use the car and one of the keys loop is brooken so it can't stay on a key ring.

you can just pop into timpsons, and get the broken blue key cloned for £25

Can the same be done with series 2 keys? my mums 00 seicento only has one key!

PS Does anyone know if I'll need to red key to reset my immobiliser if I install a CD changer??

You are usually ok if you disconnect the battery and hide the key so that you can't accidently turn the ignition with the power off.

Turn the igntion with what power off?

You should never turn the key to on with any fuses out or with the battery out as the ECU sometimes retains a small charge and locks in strange faults. Most will clear but some, e.g. airbag light, need resetting by FIAT.
