the buttons on the steering wheels are not working any ideas????

also if I were to fit a facia plate and a standard size cd player is there any way I can use these controls not that the little buggers work now anyway.

Steering wheel buttons are conected via spiral cable (two wires) to FIAT car stereo. You should check wiring and conection but be careful if you intend to remove steering wheel with AirBag mounted!!!! There is exact procedure (step-by-step) about disassembly/assembly steering wheel!!!

If you replace it with standard CD player, there is several adapters for models which have joystick input at rear side .... like SONY!

Currently i'm developing "smart" universal adapter for my Marea and SONY CD/MP3 ...... I will write some words about it later ......

I removed the audio unit and found that apart from the block of wires for the power and the block for the speakers there was a smaller block with four wires which did not connect to anything.Perhaps this is not the unit that came with the car from new?? although the block of four wires was attached to the rear of the unit there were no prongs for it to connect to. :bang:

Yes, thats it!

FIAT factory wiring (with steering wheel controls) have two ISO conectors and one SPECIAL (Grunding) conector

First ISO conector is POWER, second is SPEAKERS and third yelow/green conector is SPECIAL conector for CD-Changer, remote and telephone audio IN.

If this conector is not conected, remote cannot work!!!
