Hi
I acquired a 2001 Marea saloon 1.6 auto recently and found this forum in my 1st search for answers.
There seems to be a wealth of knowledge here which hopefully I will soon be able to tap into.

I have one small problem. I have two switches near the gear selector. One is for Ice and one is for sport mode. These seem to work but where should their indicator lights show?

Many thanks

On the instrument cluster where the gear selection display is. You will have an indication that says 'Norm' that is when the gearbox is in normal mode. Sports and Ice are displayed when either of those modes have been selected.

Sports mode holds the gears longer and seems to sharpen pull away, the only time I tend to use it is if I am hustling along twisty country lanes when it really comes into its own. It does not seem to ever select top gear though so I suspect using it a lot will have a dramatic effect on your fuel consumption. I personally don't think it improves matters on normal roads at normal speeds, kick-down seems to give just as much go.

Ice mode starts the car off in second gear I think and is really usefull in slippery conditions. Last year on a sharp uphill bend covered with ice and snow I could not pull away at all in 'Norm' but the car pulled away really well when I selected Ice. I belive it only works up to about 30 mph.:)

Thanks for the reply.
The bulb for the gear display lcd has blown. No wonder I hadnt seen the the mode indicator.
Ive got the dash out now and will fit a new bulb shortly.
Thanks very much for your help.
