Well its getting to the time of year where i recon the coolant is due its change! after all the car was sat for like 3 years, now a couple of questions.

1) The book reccomends Paraflu, but its quite expensive, are there other types of fluid that can correctly be used (Must be compatible) that people know of? the current fluid is green.

2) Is there an easy way to purge the coolant system? I want to run a hose through it also but its the first car i've ever done the coolant on and want it to be done right, don't need airlocks etc, and the radiator doesnt have a rad cap i dont think either, just a sealed unit :p.

Hope people have the time to answer these easy questions :D!

Use a decent make of red/pink coolant at 50:50 dilution (or ready mixed) and you will be absolutely fine.
As for purging the system of old coolant with fresh water, do it through the radiator hoses and you should get most of it out.
Airlocks are a different matter, sometimes you get them sometimes you don't, I think the god of airlocks is quite random on his selection of disciples (or victims). Good luck:)

Ahh thanks Peters,

Yeah i'm looking at the halford 5 year red protection i believe it is, heard people using them in the coupes and that its compatible with most cars, just have to thoughrilly flush the system through so im not mixing, i think my antifreeze is long overdue but its still working quite effectively if the readings are correct on the dash! :p

I think its 7.0l for the whole coolant system, quite alot if you ask me! :D but it certainly needs it im sure, problem with leaving a car sit for 3 years and coming back to it.

Thanks matey!

I used paraflu on mine, took ages to get the airlocks out, over a 3 week period though, but all sorted and its been fine ever since, there is a release screw on teh rad on the left hand side on mine and one at the back near and under the throttle body. i did a punto at the same time and that took ages too lol
