hi, 1st thread sending ... here goes ......

very long story but i have owned my auto marea for a mazzive 4 weeks it has been in the garage for 2 of those after she over heated  i needed a new water temp sensor and thermostat.... now the water temp gauge is always reading hot also my rev counter occasionally has a party .....

i get my car back saying buy an after market w/t gauge and they will by pass it for me to sit on my dash ....... they think theres a loose coonction with the rev counter and w/t gauge as they wiggled the wires and it jiggled about on there own .... no offer to sort the problem out .....

then 4 days later the engine amber light comes on the car starts to miss fire and hard to drive select gear its self etc ..... took it back to garage and they said fuel injector 2 is at fault ... nothing we can do with it here as we dont deal with it as such ....... :bang:

when i collected the car the first time this amber light was on and a mec blasted the HT leads and down towards spark plugs then cleared the code when all seemed fine never explained it to mee infact were silent!! i thought not a lot of it at the time

i didnt send it in with this light on .....

any ideas of what may be the issue with the injector ie will a cleaner help or has it gone too far for that

also i have a slightly squeeky belt only on 1st start up of the day noise gone within 1/4 mile driving if that ...

i bought this car with no known faults all was fine til 2 days after slight squeek then 7days after that it over heats and so on

soo skint soo gutted sooo peeed offf any advice of a cheap out come would be greatly recieved  please please please help meee x :)

ps i am a learner and this is my officail 1st car

Woop another marea owner!

Take the HTS off, take the plugs out and clean the Plugs, then open the caps of all the HT's and see if the HT contact has broken free of the rubber hold!

Is this a 1.6 by any chance?

1.6 Injectors do occasionally go!

Welcome! :)

well i had a cool dude look at it last night and he straight away saw it was no' 2 HT lead it was earthing on the inlet manifold!!!!! uu could hear it snicking wen he took it out and rested it on the car .... nice.....

how the garage missed this i dont know .......

so now im awaiting him to find me a new HT lead ... and pray that thats the only issue .... doo uu no if this could be likely ?? the spark plug sparked ...... when he tested it .....

yes she is a 1.6 i think she is amazing to drive hubby has a multipla and i love the quirkyness of "ooooglie" too but only a manual i will only drive an auto tee he so much easier and stress free .... well when she works properly .... cant believe my luck but hopefully she will be sorted out soonies .....

thanks mr migs08 (y)

Hehe yep, the HT leads are apserlutely aweful, i've never seen such bad quality! yours just need lifting inside of the rubber mounts i think to stop it from grounding!

Definately sure its HT from what has been said however the plug may be a bit wet if you've tried using the car with a failed spark! It'l want to dry off first :).

I hope you get this issue dealt with quickly! Mareas are very nice cars! :D:D.

Migs.

well im awaiting to hear if i can just get the one to keep costs down tho a set i can get for £20..... but £7 would be better lol x

yes i really do love her im not sure why i just wanted her as soon as i found her on ebay

hopefully its just the HT lead and then she will be fixed x she is blue like urs in the pic

being an auto she is sooo responsive and fun :)

LOVE IT !!!

THANKS AGAIN FOR UR ADVICE EARLIER

i will update after the HT has been changed to celebrate hopefully x x

hoping to get my HT LEADS fitted tonight i had to buy a set of 4 for £25 +VAT

i soo hope thats it

we went to legoland on the bank hol weekend .... drove our 01 x reg multi up and some f***er stole our catalytic converter we were stranded 8pm sun night with a broken car couldnt drive it 200 miles home couldnt get towed for free as it wasnt a break down couldnt afford the repair cost of £275 plus a night in hotel as bank hol mon not much open .... we had to scrap the car in london for £150 ..... got my dad to drive up from devon and rescue us anfter legoland kindly put us up in a hotel for a night nr by .... all our belongings on a car park floor ... with a 5yr old ....

awfull ........ that car was worth over 1k sun morn by sun eve £150 :'(

devistated we loved our OOGLIEEEEE !!!

i would never of scrapped it, i would of got in touch with the insurance company and they should of sorted it out for you. if not i think i would of drove it home it would of been noisy but at least you could of got it fixed at a later date

well ins company said they would fix it n drop us off to train station

we had to pay for tickets home pay excess £250 plus train cost back to collect it at some point

and not being funny but we were told buy as many people to drive it home not to esp that far

with a child on bord and all uu could smell was diesel /exhaust fumes inside

plus being told we could be pulled over for the noise... tho we found out only a £30 fine no points just dont no if the could issue multiple tickets or not

hubby was very tempted but at the end of the day safety comes first when kids are involved and could have been traffic or set backs not what uu need with a big gas ball under ur feet ????

and the car needed the EGR VALVE up to £100 cleaning and a new pedal position sensor £200 plus labour

overall the car didnt seem worth it considering we have wasted 1k on her on new hand brake cable new slave valve cylinder and new clutch our money box was more then cleared out and our borrowing of family was at limit ... we really had no choice x x x

she was a complete money waster but we loved her brilliantness ..... people have also said since we have also done the air flow mass and the other 2 have popped up on red ignition light it could well be the ecu as all happened within a week of the air flow fixed ... happened on a vauxhall van so obs some sort of pattern ......

???

|??? xx

i would of sent my wife and kids on the train (i have 3 kids) , then late at night drove it some of the way, then called the aa out and said "i heard a big thump and then this noise" i would of just lied like i hit a brick or lorry tyre or something.

Anyway whats done is done.

good luck for the future

cheers

right back to the origional post----- missfire-----

i have had 4 brand new HT leads fitted and i bought 4 used injectors, i got a friend to fit number 2 as it was at fault however when he went to change it it was loose it had fallen out of the clip however he swapped it for a different one any way just incase it was faulty as well

he wiped the fault code off of the car and we have driven it about 80 miles and all seems fine how ever there is still a slight miss fire not as bad as before and not seeming to affect the car in any way .... does anyone know if this is common or what the issue could be now im not too worried atm as she is driving well so far but wondering if it will slowly get worse ????

ALSO the back drivers side window leaks it doesnt seem to fit into the door properly when done up when it rains hard a slight spray of mist comes through .... any ideas it seems as though the handle wont wind any further as if something is preventing it but we cant see any thing

ALSO does any one know a easy way to empty the drain under the windscreen as ours blocked and with this heavy rain it might flood .... we cant get the wiper arm off :/

thanks guys !
