Hi Paulo, welcome to the Fiat Forum and best of luck with the cam belt change. The problem with undoing a crankshaft pulley is that by using a socket and wrench in that manner all you are doing is taking up the slack in the transmission, it really needs a zero torque application (Air wrench/windy gun) to shock the crank bolt loose.

I have in the past found that by putting supporting the wrench handle on something solid you can flick the engine over on the starter (disconnect ignition first to prevent engine starting) and that will do the trick, but really this should only be as a last resort and is not recommended. Also make sure that if there is a lock tab on the crank pulley it is knocked back first.

I did a quick search in the Marea forum and found the guide for changing a cam belt on a Marea 20V. Although it is a different engine than yours it might prove useful reading. If you still have problems then a post in that section should get you plenty of advice.

Be careful as the front cam pulleys are floating so if you loosen them the pulleys will turn independently of the cams and any marks you made will mean nothing. With the 1600 engine you lock the cams from the back, Franklin do a kit for that which is normally £120 plus but as it happens I have one for sale on ebay having bought it to do my own cam belt. Link below and on sale for just £50. Half of what I paid for it as I bought it trade. I am selling it because I do not expect to have to do the cam belt again on my Weekend.
