Hello People.

I have a Marea Weekend and have had problems with the front brakes sticking on since the pads were replaced a few weeks back.

It is the Off-side front with the problem and I wondered if there was anything I could do to help free it without pulling the whole disk/caliper assembly to bits.

It is free when cold, but when I use the brakes, it sticks slightly and starts to warm up - the warmer it gets, the harder it sticks, and the hotter it gets...

Any advice well received - I am not confident enough to disassemble, but would be happy to apply some grease/lubricant if that would help.

Thanks for reading

Alec

if its the sliders sticking you are going to have to disasemble the caliper halfs to lubricate... It requires High melting point grease as normal grease will melt like butter and could end up on the disc and pads which is a recipe for parking under a lorry....

were the discs replaced at the same time as pads? if they have a lip this can also cause problems with the brakes binding

Thanks for the reply Andy,

I have a little more info now, as a friend of mine has done some fault finding for me.

The vehicle was immobile with the off-side brake disk/pads smoking hot. I got it recovered to home on a transporter. Since it has cooled, the brake is no longer seized - however, that brake does not operate at all.

Aside from the possible slider prob that caused the issue in the first place - we now seem to have some kind of blockage or collapsed flexible pipe.

I will have to throw in the towel and get it sorted at the garage next week.

Thanks again for you reply. It was much appreciated.

Sounds a bit like you might have boiled the brake fluid away in the caliper, and are now left with an air lock, otherwise, it sounds like your caliper needs a strip down and clean.
