Hey lads,

The infernal problem of the airbag light staying on! Knew it wouldn't pass the NCT as of new rules this year, so I took out the console and turned it off by means of a bridge across the bulb contacts. Great - no light, however, the NCT still failed, because then the light wasn't working :bang:

Car home, console off and bridge removed, and now resigned to getting the damned thing fixed. Reluctant to bring to a Fiat dealership, because all they did in the past was clear the ECU memory, and the light came on again after a week or so.

Bought 16 to 3 pin adaptor to plug into the airbag diagnostic, and am left wondering what to do with the two Crocodile clips, and what is a K-line anyway? Anyone had complete success getting rid of that annoying light via diagnostics and necessary repairs/replacements?

Any clues much appreciated.

Hi Joe. I might be cheaper to get the same thing done again as last time since your window of 3 weeks for a re-test is 'tight' - I'm assuming that it's just a visual re-test. End of the day I don't see that you are doing anything wrong here since the airbag should still work even with the light on ?
Michael.

I hear you Michael, but the trouble is that if it's a pretensioner that's setting the system off, you can only cancel the (crash!) memory twice, and then the next time it's on permanently. After that it's a new airbag ECU, and you still have the some prob all over again. I think it will be cheaper to find the problem area and deal with it.

All the best ,

Joe

Hoping to get the diagnostics today. Does anyone out there have a full list of Fiat specific airbag error codes?

Thanks,

Joe
