Poor old Guido failed his MOT today

N/S drive shaft gaiter
N/S rear brake pipe rusted
Both rear springs broken  never spotted or heard any knocking, not even with the caravan on the back

Booked in for Tuesday £279 for the lot. Not to bad really for a 12 year old car with 125,000 on the clock,

Its nice to have a 12 year old Fiat with no corrosion as well.

Just wish I could get the rev counter to work now.

Nice to hear Mareas getting MOTs for not too much money. Mines due next month think I will need to spend a few pounds on wishbones and drop links theres a bit of clonking going on over holes and bumps. Still after ten year its the first wishbones its needed.

Rear springs do look excessively prone to corrosion! shame they snapped though lad, im going to probably have to brush the rust off mine also! Gota watch for that in future, nice to see your machine is alive and well!

I don't suppose towing or carrying rockery stones and 3x2 paving slabs have helped the 12 year old springs to be honest :D But thats why you have an estate in the first place (y)

£279 later and Guido has 12 MOT and 2 new shiny black rear springs :slayer:

Had mine through an NCT (not as tough as your MOT) last Feb and despite the back suspension gone 'soft' it passed. Seems to be a lot of emphasis on being 'balanced' so if you have one good shock and the other not good it brings about a fail. Surprised you didn't need a set of shocks to go with those shiny new springs. :)

They probably could do with replacing to be honest but they must be good enough to pass the MOT which only looks for the minimum standard. Now I know the shock nuts/bolts came off OK I will probably replace them in the near future.

I think save your money and put it into the shocks for your 500. :)
If I get through the next NCT (MOT) in the Marea I'll spend some money on a set of your shiney springs and a cambelt.
